How do yall feel about that early matchup @ Penn State, and how it relates to the early part of your SEC schedule? Within your first 5 games you have PSU, Arky, and Florida. Even with the cupcakes in your opener and between PSU and Arky, that seems like a tough opening to your season trying to break in a new QB.

What are your thoughts on this, and how you you think/predict it will play out?

TIA to the complete thoughts that I get!

And to the Arky flamers that just look for LSU fans' threads to give them shite.

Not gonna be an easy stretch, but relative to other seasons its really not that bad. It WILL be kinda rough to have to play in Happy Valley in your second game as the starting QB.

Schedule is not much different from previous three years. Played VT two years ago on the road the first game of the year, with a new starting QB.

Not concerned about PSU(lack of talent) or Arkansas(home field). Florida at FL, I have some concern.

@PSU - Tough environment fir a young QB, and their D should be pretty stout. But their O may have regressed from the one we shut down last year, and our D should be better. They'll really struggle to put points on the board, and our RBs will wear them down late in the game.

Arky - they'll have a young QB making his first start on the road, and unfortunately it looks like they'll be without Davis. This one worries me the most of the 3 though. First team to reach 20 wins and I think we get it done.

@UF - the early road game @PSU pays off. Should be a hard fought defensive battle. I'm still not sold on their OL. We squeak one out.

What do I think? I think it's a hell of a lot better than facing 6 teams that had a bye week before playing us.

Haha... I would have to agree with what you all have addressed. Especially the point of bye weeks. I will say, though, that coming from a fan who has witnessed how poor QB play can, in and of itself, bring your team down to the opponents' level regardless of how your defense plays, I personally believe you all have a lot more to worry about. Sure, we won 11 games last year on defensive talent alone, but we also didn't start off against 2, possibly 3 nationally ranked opponents in our first five weeks if I recall correctly. Even if we did, they weren't the same caliber as those you face.

I like jumping right in because it lets you know just how good you really are sooner instead of playing like worldbeaters against cupcakes and then getting the wind knocked out of you on you first tough game.

I'm not overly concerned with PSU, but I think it will be good for the team to get a good game in against a decent team before that conference opener with Arky and their powerful offense.

I don't think you can automatically assume the QB will play poorly.

Go back and watch the Virginia Tech game from 09. McElroy was horrible in the 1st half of that game. It had more to do with coaching. He was told to look at his first option, if he wasn't open, then tuck it and get what you can. He was a different QB in the 2nd half and for most of the rest of the season.

I think you'll see a similar game plan in the PSU game. They're not going to ask the QB to do too much.

Playing @ PSU is gonna be a challenge in a hostile environment. I think Bama physically wears them down by the 4th qtr.

Arky makes me nervous, they will be hard to beat.

Florida in the Swamp is another tough environment. Will be fun though!
