What is the best place to stay in downtown ATL within walking distance to Turner Field? Looking to go to a couple of Bravo's games in 2 weeks and for a place pretty cheap. Thanks.

you don't want to stay too close to turner unless you want to be mugged, robbed, or offered meth

EDIT: i don't think there are any hotels within walking distance

just my opinion, could be wrong, but I'd stay somewhere in further up in ATL and drive. area around Turner field is a ghetto dump

eta: stay in one of the hotels around Centennial Olympic park/Phillips Arena/Ga Dome. Those are geared toward business class. You can take MARTA to underground Atlanta and they have a bus service that will shuttle you to and from the game

The only place around Turner Field that you want to walk is the parking lot unless you have an assault rifle handy.

last year after we had beaten the Phillies for the last regular season game I was in traffic when we drove by a small parking lot at a laundromat with about 9 cars in it two blocks from the gates of the stadium. Every car had had its windows broken and electronics stolen. I didnt feel too bad though considering the group of white college kids were dumb enough to park there.

Haha thanks for all the advice guys. I found a place at a great price 1 block from the park and 3 blocks from MARTA. Is this a better location?

If centennial park, then yes. PLus you'll have a lot more to take in in-between games (Aquarium, world of coke, CNN center)

buckhead would be the best. There is a holiday Inn right there at the ball field if you are dead set on staying close

There is that Holiday Inn Express by the stadium.. on the main road where all teh parking lots are.. seems like a descent place.. i see alot of visitors coming from there to go to the game.... i agree with everyone else tho, stay by the park...

Was the first thing that came to my mind. You better be packing heavy and wearing armor if you are walking in that area. It isn't always safe walking from the stadium to your car.

I disaggree guys. Someone just build an inexpensive hotel nearly inside the Turner parking lot and it has a great sports bar next door where people go then walk to the games.

Take a cab to midtown at night but forget buckhead. Getting to the stadium will be a pain from there. Go to google, they have hundreds of reviews on the two hotels. Great way for a weekend of baseball

First I from atlanta, and Saying getting to the park from buckhead is difficult is a joke. Hop on Marta for like 20 min bam 5 points and hop on the shuttle.
