Suggesting that BYU might foul. Was he even paying attention to the game?
Yeah, go ahead and foul in a tie game when Florida was in the double bonus and time is winding down. At least his co-announcer corrected him by pretty much suggesting there was no way in hell BYU would do that.

I heard that. i guess that idiot was so confident that jimmer would have hit a three to finish it with about 5 seconds left. if i had a fricking dollar for everytime i heard him say jimmer, i would take a week off of work.

Gus Johnson's always entertaining but that was a bit of a Verne Lundquist moment.

I seriously said "WTF?" to my buddy when he said that. My buddy was drunk as hell though, and probably agreed with him.

Reggie was the one saying not to foul the Elmore agreed. Gus was babbling about fouling.

I'm not as enthralled with Gus Johnson as a lot on these boards are, but at the time he said it, there was some validity to it.
If I recall he said that at the :11 mark. Think about it. Florida is a horrible FT shooting team. Waiting and hoping for the best just would mean that Florida would miss a shot (which they did anyway.) Had BYU fouled a 8-9 seconds, even if Florida had made two, 'Jimmer' could have at least tried one of his 35 footers to win.

There's no way you give up easy points in that scenario. All Florida needed was to make 1 of 2.

My all time favorite commentator screw up was Verne calling the Arkansas Florida game.
