Fancher was fired by App. State following the 2009 season and worked as a GA under Pearl in 2010. Last season he was promoted to video coordinator.

What happened to the stone cold lock about the impending hiring of Grant due his unhappiness at Bama? There was a well-known personality and an intern in Knoxville yakking about it last week?

Huh?

I'd assume UT is going to take a shot at better coaches first.

So, has there been any player defections, current or recruits?

I think people are having a kneejerk reaction to Shaka Smart. Is he a good coach? I don't know.

What I do know is that this time a week ago, everybody outside of Birmingham, AL and Richmond, Va was raising hell that UAB and VCU didn't even deserve to sniff the NCAA tournament, and now, after VCU wins a couple games, their coach is the hottest commodity in the country?

I'm not saying Shaka Smart isn't a good coach. He clearly knows how to motivate. But if I were a Tennessee fan, I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in 3 games in which the guy's team has been ridiculously hot. Anybody can get hot for a stretch, and VCU has clearly gotten hot at just the right time. They WILL NOT shoot 60% from 3-pt. land every game. Just won't happen.

Let's not forget this is the same team that lost 6 games in the CAA and finished 4th in the conference.

If they hadn't gotten in the NCAA tourney, nobody would know that Shaka Smart even existed. Just sayin'.

One signee is asking out of his LOI, but says Tennessee is still a major player without knowing the coach. Two players, Tobias Harris and Scotty Hopson are "testing the waters" but Hopson says he'll likely be back and Harris and his father will meet with the new coach.

Grant would come here if asked. I stand by what I said. But there are other coaches ahead of him on our list. Shaka Smart and Chris Mooney, not to mention Brad Stevens, got their teams to the tournament.
