This story has no leans, just a news clip. Interesting that DeMatha has no athletic fields of their owns and now they got a $500k unanimous donation to help build it.

I'm sure everyone will say Auburn but I can't find a time frame on when they got the donation. Take it how you will.

DeMatha is a basketball school. It's like the Kentucky of High School basketball.

Why would Cyrus Kouandjio and his family care about a $500k donation to an athletic facility that they will never see again...except on Homecoming?

Also, DeMatha is quickly becoming a national powerhouse. They have sent quite a few of their players to college and to the NFL. It could have been a former player that is now in the pros.

I think it's ridiculous to assume that a college like Alabama OR Auburn would use facility upgrades to lure recruits to sign with them.

Cyrus and his family wouldn't. His coach would be.

I know Dematha's coach would love that donation, and he was pimping Auburn hard

+1. DeMatha is amazing at pretty much everything, but BBall is what they are. And most schools(atleast Private ones like DeMatha) up here dont have athletic fields on campus. And the ones that do usually only have one or two. McDonough is the one exception.

They're churning out quality football recruits now too. Pretty sure they have more guys in the league than any other high school

I stopped reading the Cyrus to Bama thread yesterday, must have been before that link.

I don't know much about the background behind DeMatha, I had heard that they had a few pro athletes as alumni though.

It's funny that you call tuscaloosa a ghetto when there are housing projects within walking distance of AU's campus.
