Nah. Only two LSU football jerseys have ever been retired. Billy Cannon's and Tommy Cassanova's.

According to the LSU AD office press release:
"To have a jersey retired at LSU, an athlete must have completed intercollegiate competition for LSU a minimum of five years prior to nomination. Athletes must have demonstrated truly unusual and outstanding accomplishments, exceeding and in addition to all criteria used for Hall of Fame selection. The athletic performance must be considered unique, such as winning of a Heisman Trophy or National Player of the Year award, and should be based on the total LSU career. Athletes may also be considered for making dramatic impact on the popularity of his or her sport or for significant participation in positive change in LSU Athletics. Nominees must have a unanimous vote of support from the Hall of Fame committee."

I'm guessing that means PP7 would also have to graduate. If he takes off early for the NFL, that won't happen unless he comes back to finish his degree someday.

Guys come back in the offseason and finish their degrees and work out.

I'm sure he would be smart enough to come back and get this done.

Yea, he'd have to come back and get his degree, which is easily doable

If he does that, why not have his number retired? He's been the best player at his position for 2 years now, and maybe the best at another position(return man). And there's no doubt he's at least in the discussion for best ever at LSU, he is the best, IMO.

People are usually quick to say no in this discussion and rarely acknowledge a current player as the best ever, but there aren't very many better than Peterson, that's a fact.

Tommy Cassanova's.

Wasn't he #37? And isn't Hatcher #37?
