Alabama: 112th in sacks and 115th in TFL?

I was wondering what the explanation for this is. Why does Alabama only have 2 sacks and 9 TFL total in their 3 games this year?

Obviously it hasn't hurt their defense any, but I was surprised to see those numbers be so low. It seems like Alabama should have more of each even if they've been vanilla on defense.

They need Nick Fairley.

Line isn't what we were expecting...and I am worried about it.

In my opinion they move up 40 spots after this coming weekend, who do they play?

2nd in the nation in scoring defense. That's the one I'm concerned about. Also 1st in the SEC in pass efficiency defense.

We haven't played Mallett yet...those numbers will look better after Saturday.

Basically, our DL just isn't that great.

So the LB's are to blame?

sandbagging like Ole Miss

Were not as good defensively as last year, most everyone admits that (although we all think we'll never lose a game, EVER). And we've been without two of our three best pash rushers until last week and even then Courtney Upshaw didn't play.

Although really I don't know the stats but I doubt we had a ton of sacks last year. We seem to get pressure but not a ton of sacks.

How's Arkansas' Oline looking this year? Cause those stats might improve Saturday.

Upshaw being out is really hurting us.

I dont think that Saban would sandbag, but I really really hope that he is.

I dont see us getting to Atlanta if we keep playing defense like what we've seen so far.

A big reason for it is our exorbitant amount of missed tackles.

I do expect Saban to throw some crazy shite at Mallett to try and confuse him and wouldn't be surprised to see him taken down several times on Saturday. I don't know though, Arkansas only allowed 1 sack against Georgia, and they got 4 against USC.

This is true. We should have had 3 or 4 sacks yesterday but we just didn't wrap up.

You can read too much into stats sometimes. Last year we were near the bottom of the rankings in red zone scoring, but '09 turned out all right.

Great in pass protection, not so great in run blocking. 4 sacks allowed in 3 games, and at least two of those sacks were from RBs failing to pick up blitzes. That might be the big problem against Alabama. Then again, I expect Broderick Green to get most of the snaps and he's the best in pass protection (which is why I think he'll play the most).

Fortunately for you, you don't really have to wrap Mallett up. Just kind of run into him and his stork legs will fold up.

I'm pretty sure he's been sacked by a stiff breeze once or twice.
