There's almost no way to pick a top five, some stadiums are louder that others at particular times. If Auburn just beat Ala at home after losing for 4 years then it will be the loudest. SC gets loud if their winning, LSU if they are drunk after dark, etc.

Ive grown up going to the Swamp so it fills most of my top 5....

But the loudest i have ever heard a stadium was when UF beat UT 21-20. And when UF was down 14-20 and on their own like 5 yard line my ears rang and it was nothing like i have ever seen before...Tiger Stadium can get going to....

but i have never seen anything like at UT that year....

In general I would have to go with
1. The Swamp
2a. Tiger Stadium
2b. JHS
4. Neyland
5. Sanford

For specific games I would guess:
1. Tiger Stadium vs Auburn in 1988 (Earthquake game)
2. JHS vs LSU in 2008 (The ESPN announcers and people watching on tv all commented on how loud it was).
I dunno past that.

Well, I believe LSU/UF 2007 holds the record for highest decibel level in a college football stadium, just throwing it out there.

After that:

The Swamp- Loud hot miserable place to be
JHS- Loud, but rarely when they really needed to be. Often loudest when AU was on offense
BDS- Not as loud as it should be, but a pretty great atmosphere.
Moo St.- cowbells give opposing teams migraines. Not really loud.
VHS- Weak

1. DV - loud even in rain storm in 2007 against us
2. Swamp - was there in 2006 - ridiculous
3. JHS - watched them play UF in 2006, loud on TV
4. BDS - default
5. Neyland - was there in 2005. very loud right before Josh Brown shut them up w 49 yard FG to win the game.

BTW, Sanford Stadium is overrated. Been there 5 times, and have never heard it get loud, including last Saturday night. Not even as we were driving late in the 4th quarter.

If you watch AU play at Yurdung-Hair stadium on TV, the fans have a very loud "shrill" scream, like the stadium is filled with elementary school girls.

BTW, Bama's will be loudest next year with the stadium being enclosed and 101,000 fans.

We have a problem with people at Tennessee doing that bullshite as well. If you dont want to get into the game dont come. Geez I hate those golf clapper type fans.

This. Was very shocked at how tame it was in Athens.

I've been to Neyland four times and have never been impressed with the crowd noise. Although two of those were blowouts in Alabama's favor. I enjoyed the atmosphere greatly, but I was surprised at the lack of noise in those games.

Have to go with the swamp #1 and it is due to layout. The stands are right on top of the field and it rises vertically more than outward due to the stadium's footprint. I've been to several games there also.

Second is probably JH, though TS could go here too.

Third is either Bryant Denny (now) or Sanford.

After that, not sure.

lsu is the only instance i know of when the croud set off the richter scale during an auburn game
here are some more opinions

"I stood in Tiger Stadium and I thought, 'This is what the Colosseum in Rome must have been like.'" -- Ed Simonini, Texas A&M linebacker.

"It was like the Colosseum in Rome and we were the Christians." -- The late Bobby Dodd of Georgia Tech.

"Unbelievable, crazy. That place makes Notre Dame seem like Romper Room." -- Brad Budde, USC lineman.

"It makes a body tingle. These folks go berserk when the band marches on the field. A huge roar is heard for the invocation, for heaven's sake. They not only know the words to the national anthem, they sing them, loudly. And when the Tigers win the toss...there are tears of ecstasy." -- Douglas Looney, Sports Illustrated describing a Saturday night in Death Valley.

"Baton Rouge happens to be the worst place in the world to be a visiting team." -- The Late Paul "Bear" Bryant, head coach of Kentucky, Texas A&M and Alabama.

been to UT, UF, LSU, Auburn, Bama, Kentucky, Vandy games
(knocking out ole miss, msu, and uga this year)

1. LSU (for big games)
2. auburn (pretty loud, even when auburn was on offense)
3. uf ( the game i went to was a blow out though in their defense)
4. bama (the crowd noise and the awful aroma of rednecks that havent bathed in weeks makes bryant denny a very tough place to play.)
5. ut (most overrated stadium in the sec)
6. UK (meh, got loud because they upset us in 07, but lsu's 10k fans were louder than the rest of the stadium most of the game)
7.vandy- well.......
