Sticks/branches are a cheap filler for above ground planters. I've seen people use them in planter boxes that are 24+ inches where they'll eventually decompose and plant root systems don't directly need that soil space.

I shouldn't need to point out why it's inappropriate/counter productive for their setup.

And that takes like what, three years?!

24" vs 6". 1 X 6 boards with that much filler and no contact with the earth below? Yeah, you are right it being counter productive.

They may get 9 sq feet of spinach which will be gone in 1 meal with that many people. Stupid is as stupid does.

ETA - 45+ day growing time minimum and it will last 1 fricking meal.

As I sit back with a smile and sip my fine Bourbon while looking at beaucoup tomatoes getting ripe, cucumbers harvested every day, green beans and bell peppers and okra just coming up which will get us through the heat of late summer when the others die.

Bring your communist revolution down South if you dare.

I have potatoes, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, tomatoes, silver queen corn, green beans, summer squash, cucumbers, cantaloupe, watermelons, pumpkins and sunflowers. I have busted my arse planting, cultivating, fertilizing, installing electric fence, chicken wire fence etc. The rabbits and deer are like these Chaz idiots and want to eat but not work.

Gardening enough to feed yourself is hard work. These clowns have no idea what that means or how to do it. They think it all magically appears to privileged people.

God gives me the rain and the sun and for that I am thankful. The rest is on me.
