Narcissists are never wrong and will never accept blame.
They will deflect, gaslight and flat out lie to make sure they are never wrong in their own minds because the cognitive dissonance is too much for them to handle.
And to make it worse, they don't even see it as a lie, because they will always justify it using various means.
