Dang...just did a little research on Gerry Bertier. In the 1971 season, Bertier had 42 sacks and his tackles for loss caused RBs to lose a total of 432 yards.

Other fact that I noticed: While Boone won state in 1971, he only made the playoffs 1 more time before he was fired in 1979.

The sack didn't become an official Stat until 1981 so I bet that number is embellished or they are counting all TFLs as sacks.

This is why you cannot replace a Gerry Bertier.

Bertier was a legit 5 star linebacker and better than any of the black players on the team. I believe he had 2 family members that played in the nfl and he was committed to notre dame when his injury occurred.
