I don’t necessarily think it’s a good idea to draft based on your current coach’s philosophy just because the turnover there is so high and you can miss out on really talented players.

I think Hawk was the right pick and has clear 3-level scoring ability in ways the other two don’t. Now it’s on the front office and coaching staff, regardless of their player philosophy, to develop that talent into the most effective player possible for where you want to go.

They picked some French bust Ousman Dieng or something like that before him so they had no idea either.

I disagree with this. I think it’s quite clear Podz and Whitmore have more 3 level scoring ability unless there’s something I’m missing. Plus their ability to handle the ball is a huge plus compared to Hawkins.

Trey and Hawk were both rookies under Willie and Hawk saw more games as a rookie than Trey and played more minutes per game than Trey when Hawkins had more guys to compete against for minutes. I don't know if Hawk will end up a nice piece but I don't think his playing time this year should be held against him.
