re: What was the reason you didn’t marry the person you thought you were going to?

Dated a girl at LSU for 3 years. Absolutely gorgeous, great family, checked all the boxes. The further along we got in the relationship it became clear that she was looking for the stay at home trophy wife life and it didn't really matter who she was married to, she just wanted that life she had pictured in her head and needed a suitable provider for it. She wanted the big wedding, lots of kids, stay at home no job, spend husband's money and live in a big house and hop around country clubs and yoga classes all day.

Once I started to catch on, it kind of fizzled out and I broke it off. She started dating another guy 2 weeks after we broke up and ended up marrying him within a year of graduating.

They now have 3 kids, she is a stay at home mom and posts on facebook all day about all the trips they go on, her hobbies, etc.

So in the end, I was right, and she got what she wanted anyway. Ended up being better off for both of us.
