Yep once Michael cut him loose and was too old for that grade it was a wrap.
Randy got the short straw thanks to Carver/Herc.

The vicious cycle is the main point of the show. They worked so hard to bring down Barksdale, then Marlo steps up. They bring down Marlo, and now it’s Slim Charles’ turn.
Daniels gets his chance to make some “real change” in the PD, but then his past catches up to him. Hell, Valcheck becomes commissioner!
Duke is the next Bubbles. Chris is the next cold blooded mass murderer.
All the police work in the show didn’t amount to any change or improvements.
The gears keep turning, grinding them all up.
