My dad was going through treatments for pancreatic cancer during Christmas 2012. He would pass away a couple months afterward. He was on some experimental meds at the time that seemed to be messing with his emotions. We had the entire family there and we were beginning to open presents. Something snapped in his mind and he started crying loudly and he grabbed my son to hug him and kept repeating “I’m going to see Jesus soon” my son hugged him. It might have been the most crushing 2 minutes I’ve ever spent on this earth.

Afterward, I found a reason to separate my son from the room where he was in to explain what was going on and why grandpa was acting that way. He understood. Tough night.
