Raising the SS benefit age is tantamount to increasing taxes and growing government. Why would anyone try and make it easier for the federal government? Congress made it's promise, appropriate funding as promised. Sorry for Larry Fink's and Little Ben's billionaire handlers government contracts.

You don't think raising the SS benefit age is reasonable when life expectancy has been raised nearly 15 years since Congress made this promise?

When it was signed into law in 1935, the social benefit age was 65 and older. At the time, life expectancy in the US was about 63 yo.

So, having more people dependent on a check from the federal government is shrinking government, and having fewer people dependent on a check from fedgov is growing government? That seems f'd.

Trusting Congress was the first mistake. Nothing says congress cannot change the rules.

No it isn't. That's ridiculous.

It's literally decreasing entitlements and decreasing welfare spending.

This is typical populist nonsense.

Up in the air like Mary Lou Retton!

Compresses can’t pass laws that encumber future congresses. Congress, literally, cannot pass a “promise”. SS and Medicare have always been up to the whims of Congress. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Yeah, I know that’s not what we’ve been told. But believing politicians’ “promises” was never a good idea. They lie. A lot.
