My daughter played travel softball until she was 18 when she went to college. When she about 10 years old, I hired a hitting coach for her. He seemed like a good guy, ex-Marine, family man. I always stayed at her practices that lasted 1 1/2 hours. This coach repeatedly told me I could go shopping or run errands during her lesson, I always stayed at the location and so happy I did.
Then found out he had been arrested for disturbing kiddy porn. Parents, please be careful when leaving your kids at practices or lessons.

I pray for a measure of Grace sufficient to never put me in this situation, because there will be violence.

I or my wife always stayed at all practices, especially with the girls. I remember certain events that happened at practice with young boys and will never forget how it affected people's lives.

Perverts find vocation near potential victims. It’s just common sense.

Besides the security aspect, it's healthy for the kids development to know that his/her parents take an active interest and care enough to be there.

How many Instagram posts did you scroll through each practice? Parents are, the vast majority of the time, on their phones, shooting the shite and only intermittently paying attention at practice. It's better during games, usually, but not by much.

I've never understood why it's been so common in gymnastics for coaches to keep practices off limits to the parents, and the parents go along with it. I learned this after the Nassar situation and it blew my mind.
