It is a $4-5k job to upgrade to solid lifters with cam install.
I'm looking into this because my GM 6.2L has valve chatter at startup. DOD is not active but I guess a hydraulic lifters collapsed anyway. Good luck finding a shop that will pull the heads. No normal shop around here will even take the job including local dealerships. To get it done I will have to send my Escalade to the same speed shops that worked on my LS F-bodies 10 years ago, which I find ironic.

Total delete is the best way to go but, very costly if you are farming out the work. The cylinder heads and front of engine have to come off. I would have that function tuned out and change oil regularly.

I talked to a guy that runs a small shop in Denham Springs called Madd Monkey Garage. He said they just pull the motor to do the work and he estimated the quote at $3k. So a kit plus a cam is about $1k so $4k plus programming/tune sounds pretty decent.

Why would I need solid lifters? I wasn’t planning on going full blown popcorn on the cam, maybe just slightly more aggressive than factory. The kit comes with LS7 type hydraulic roller lifters.
