Not true. Because you can now transfer as often as you like, Ole Miss is building on a 50/50 model. They’ll still recruit in the Top 20 but their studs most years will be very highly paid transfers.

They have 2 billionaire plaintiff attorney alums and multiple plaintiff attorneys worth a half billion plus (including their collective founder) that will pay $10-20M per year in the aggregate for portal kids and never miss the money.

Kiffin has found the new model quicker than anyone and the big money from the school is all in.

Yall keep repeating this stuff. It’s such a fantasy world y’all live in. Look they might be paying players because they believe they can win next year but that doesn’t mean it will happen and IF it doesn’t I will absolutely guarantee these billionaires and millionaires won’t be doing it again. You don’t become a billionaire or millionaire by accident. Those type of people invest every single dollar and while they do take risks, they don’t continue taking bad risks that doesn’t benefit them in some way.

Everyone and their mom said A&M was going to win a championship with Jimbo until he didn’t. Not only did he not win with all that talent and so called money thrown at them but he didn’t even come close. This might work for Ole Miss in 2024 but they will NOT continue this with success. This is NOT proven. What’s proven is building from HS recruiting over 3-4 year period and then adding key players at certain positions (especially QB) and then those key players being elite during their time.

Ole Miss is desperate for some type of success and this action tells me that they don’t believe that they can compete the proven way so they’re trying to luck their way into one successful season. LSU is different. This state is loaded with talent that is routinely underrated every year. That is a fact. Where was the best 2 defensive players on that A&M team from? Louisiana! Turned out to be a 5* talent for them. I see that on so many other teams in this region as well. Their best players are from this state.

Lsu is not losing tons of key players to the portal like many other schools are. We are losing players that we don’t have room for and replacing them with better players. It’s called natural attrition. That’s what you want. We have great QBs coming up with elite skill players.

What Kiffin is doing isn’t all that unique. It’s nothing more than what A&M did in recruiting a couple of years ago applied to the portal. It worked for one year and others followed suit the next season and they became just another of many bidders. The same will happen to OM.

In 3-5 years, none of this will exist anyway. This bullshite with open transfers is likely the last straw to get the P5 to break away from the NCAA and the universities. At that point, all of the NCAA rules and the effects of these lawsuits and Supreme Court decisions are over and done with. There will be a collective bargaining agreement and contracts and direct payments to players. That means the end of all collectives. NIL will become what it was designed as- outside endorsement deals only.

The portal will be replaced by some form of organized free agency based on however long the first contract a player has is. That means no more wide open transfer portal. Player movement will be restricted by contracts since they will be employees.

If you think I’m exaggerating, when you have guys like Saban and Kelly lobbying congress over these issues, you can bet the schools and conferences are fed up with all that is going on. The NCAA is powerless and the players are pushing their advantages to the point where the P5 schools are going to push back. Once that happens, the players are going to find a lot more strings are attached to them getting paid.
