When “The Family” ran New Orleans, anyone robbing tourists in front of their hotels, car jacking near businesses, or shooting into crowds near the French Quarter wound up scraping the bottom of the Mississippi River. Crime was bad for business and tourism. Trouble was waiting off the beaten path and easily avoided. Given a choice, I’ll take the old Italian/Sicilian methods to today’s crime killing a once great American city that vacationers and artists and actors couldn’t wait to visit.
