I watched the finale last night and enjoyed it. I haven't let myself look into any spoiler-y type stuff prior ot yesterday btu I have seen numerous articles and quotes over the last month about how the Curb finale was outstanding and they took the chance to correct the awfulness of seinfeld's finale. The common theme is that they got a 2nd chance to do it right and they really hit on this one.

Maybe it's just too early right now but I feel like I've gotta be missing something here. Both finales were practically carbon note for note copies of each other with one key difference in abotu the last 30 seconds.

-Both leads are arrested somwhere unfamiliar far from home on something the viewer should feel is ridiculous
-Both feel that this will be a quick in and out and get off while in realtiy things are a bit more muddled
-Both go to trial, which woudl seem unlikely for what they are charged with
-In both trials the defense's entire strategy is ot tear down their character by bringing back former characters from the show's run
-Both shows have lots of callbacks and flash backs and fun memories of characters talking about just how shitty the leads are
-Both leads are found guilty and sentenced to time
-Both leads are in jail and have teh same conversation that was had in the 1st episode of the series

The only difference, of course, is Seinfeld ended right there while Curb ended with Larry getting off and flying back home. In the life of the character/actor we're watching on screen that's obvioulsy a massive and dramatic difference. As a viewer watching on TV the difference is only abotu a minute of screentime.

So I'm curious why people are falling over themeslves to priase this finale so much and lavish praise on it as being soooo much better than seinfled and they finally got it "RIGHT", when it was practically the exact same thing? Full disclosure I loved seinfeld's finale and thought it was great. The common thing I see when people talk shite about it isn't "they can't end up in a jail cell!" it's "man clip shows/flashbacks suck and they spent the whole finale as just one long clip show". So someone help me out here...is there more to it than just the surface level that I've overlooked?
