Very much a victim of his own success last season. Reaching the SEC title game after winning the west created unrealistic expectations, especially after considering the depleted roster he inherited. I too am confident in his ability to bring us another NC.

That being said, I think its important to finish these last 3 games strong. Need to see some effort and fight out of these guys to show that they are buying in to Coach Kelley. Also think he needs to make some significant upgrades to his defensive staff. Accomplishing these things would go a long way to showing that he is the man for the job.

There are plenty of reasons to believe Brian Kelly will win a title at LSU, which is why I do ultimately think that he will.

1) The defense needs to be fixed starting with the staff. Brian Kelly has a documented history of attracting elite level DC's. It's entirely possible that House was his VanGorder and the next guy will be his Elko.

2) The last 3 HC's have all won titles at LSU and Kelly is head and shoulders a better coach than Miles or Orgeron. I'd argue he's as good or better than Saban was at LSU.

3) He's figured out the offensive piece which is the most important in today's game. Have an elite offense and a competent defense and you can win championships.

4) He's won everywhere he's been, including at Notre Dame. By the way, his last two years at ND were 21-4. Since then, ND is 16-7.

Plenty of reason for optimism around Kelly if you zoom out a bit.
