re: Robbie Robertson, Guitarist and Songwriter of The Band, Dies at 80

My girlfriend's mother, and her nephew, and nephew's friend came and visited us last weekend. Her nephew and friend are 20, and I hadn't spent any quality time with dudes that age while I've been in my 30s. They are into skateboarding, acting wild, cutting up constantly, pussy, etc-like 20 year old dudes are into. Good kids, but it was a trip. They aren't as diverse and seasoned in their musical interests as me, still trying to figure out what they like, are still susceptible to the trappings of pop music and all that.

Anyway, we were cooking dinner, and I told them to pick out a record from my collection to listen to. They asked if I had any of The Band, specifically The Weight. I pulled out Rock of Ages, and they were all excited that I had it, and I put it on for them. We were drinking, and we all belted out the whole song in great fervor. It was a fun moment.

Then on Sunday before they left, I pulled out the guitar and was playing some songs, and I played The Weight, and we all belted it out again.
