In 1967 I was 19 years old and walked into the local hardware store and for $135 dollars I bought my Remington 742, a box of 30-06 shells and a gun case. I still have it today. No telling how many deer I’ve killed with that gun. It’s probably been at least 20 years since I hunted with it but I remember the last season it was used I shot it 6 times and killed 5 deer and a coyote. The gun is in pretty rough shape but it’s in my safe with instructions that it is never to be sold.

Have one I inherited from my dad. Pretty but not very accurate, tried everything including hand loads. 3-4" group and always a flyer in a 4 shot group. It sits in the case. Thought about looking to have the barrel recrowned just to see if that would help but probably not worth the $.

I have two 70s era 760s. The pump version of the 742.

I wouldn’t trade either one of them for nothing
