I’ll say this, I’m currently prescribed/taking daily and I wish I never started. In the beginning it was great, I was able to take half my prescribed dosage and get all the desired effects like focus/get work done while still maintaining a good diet, sleep pattern, and mood. Now I’m taking full dosage just to get up to baseline, sometimes I take even more. My mood is terrible at the end of the day and if I don’t consume alcohol/take melatonin (sometimes both) I literally can’t sleep. I most definitely drink more since starting, probably by a factor of 2 or 3. So end up starting my day hungover with still bad overall sleep and need an Adderall just to function. It really has turned into a viscous cycle for me and will certainly impact my long-term health if I don’t stop. Luckily, I have a great support system with family/friends that are holding me accountable while trying to get off of it.

As someone who easily quit it cold turkey, I really don’t understand comments like this. It’s not like booze or cigarettes that you can buy at any time. If you want to quit, just go fill your prescription for the month and then immediately throw it away. Problem solved. You won’t take it again for a month, and at that point you will be well over it. If you really want to lock it in, call your doctor and tell him not to give it to you anymore. Trust me that you THINK you need it much more than you actually do.

Edit: When I decided to quit so I could get pregnant, I just told my doctor that’s what I was planning to do, so he wouldn’t prescribe it again. Just cut it off if you don’t like it. It’s a controlled substance, so it’s easier than other addictions unless you hang out with lots of people who will give it to you illegally.

Glad to hear you have a good support system in place! I've been off for 1.5 years and can't imagine taking the stuff again! Don't hesitate to message me if you ever need some help.
