Why run up the middle in the redzone?

Our OL was piss poor last night. We were having success running on the edges last night, despite lack of interior push. But in the redzone, we switch and run up the midde for no gain. And it would put us behind the chain. Why would do that?

Also did yall notice how many times we were close to breaking a big play but got taken down by a shoestring tackle? Is that because our D is never close enough un practice to make shoestring tackles that we never see them?

Well we had a successful QB power with JJ but that arse wipe Mullen decided to call a TO right before the ball was snapped and then Golson thought he was snapping the ball at 6'5" JJ's head instead of 6'0" SW on the next play

We should have been giving the ball to KJ on the edge. That dude is a baller.

I think RL and CGM should sit down in front of this offense and apologize to them for calling an abortion of a game. The boys (even though with faults) moved the ball down field. SW was given a conservative pass selection. And yet, MOVED the ball. Inside the 10 CGM and RL went full tard.

I believe that was the play call on the first drive when Shawn through the interception. It was covered.

I thought so. I think our redzone issues were mostly execution (INT & bad snap) with some vanilla play call. Most likely due to SW making his first start.

I miss the naked bootleg with the QB hitting the TE on a drag or the FB in the flats. They were always money because everybody in America was expecting the run up the gut.

One of our redzone fails included a low pass to the front pylon, I think to Cox.

Easy answer, Auburn. however, with first and goal from the the 2, we have to have push and score.

I honestly think it is a by-product of how Gus and Rhett call the game.

I think I (and others) on here have talked about how on as many plays as possible, Gus is on one end of the coaching box viewing the field from behind the offense while Rhett is at the other end, viewing the field from behind the defense.

When you get in the red zone, you lose the ability for Rhett to read the defense. I think because of this, Gus is limiting his playcalls to "safer" ones because he can't tell exactly how the defense is lined up.

This, this, a thousand times this. It almost always resulted in a single LB caught in no mans land between the QB and the target. Commit to coverage and the QB waltzes in. I think the White Knight could run this to perfection.

It appears we might have better success if our backs had better vision in the redzone, here the right side of AU`s line drives the MSU DL three yards into the end zone, Barber doesn`t follow.

Interesting idea. I had not considered that, but it makes perfect sense.

So why not use shifts and motion along with the booth to see what D they are in?

He doesn't follow the two lineman into the end zone, but pause it just before he hits the hole. Both d lineman have leverage in the gaps. Even if he follows the two lineman, the dt is in position to stop him. Unless he makes a spectacular cut and breaks it outside to the left, his only choice is to lower his pads and try to power it into the end zone.

Edit: I also think someone blocked the wrong guy. If you look at the end, you will see that there are actually 3 lineman blocking the guy in the end zone.

The bootleg was there in that clip. Both blitzers sold out on Barber. If White keeps it he walks in
