I saw on the Scout board that Daddy Mason was getting a little to involved in the coaching and had to be asked a couple of times to get out of the huddle and sit down. Evidently there was a bit of a blow up late in the game when Mason was benched for a series of 2.

Hopefully this gets resolved quickly. We need everybody on the same page if we are going to make a run at post season play.

I noticed Antoine was out for a decent bit at the end of the game too. I don't remember seeing Anthony Mason doing anything though (I was there)

Seemed weird though that Anthony who plays physical and big on defense in the paint + is one of our legit scorers was benched at the ending of the game. Didn't make sense to me

Mason is a guard so that had no affect on his playing time. He didn't run a play that was called and forced a bad shot. That's when Pearl got in his ear and sat him for a bit.

Wow, you're right. I thought he was bigger than that.

I know Anthony has an attitude, though.

He used to get into trouble constantly when he played for Charlotte.

I hope that rumor is a little overblown, but I could see him running his mouth.

The bolded is a response from austudent22(not to be confused with austudent23)to a post from the thread.

Interesting you bring that up. I sat pretty closely to his father at the game on Saturday. During almost every time out, dead ball or at half time his father was in someones ear.

Whether it was a coach or player he definitely had no problem forcing his opinions on the unlucky recipient. He has a strong type A personality, and I believe responsible for Antoine shooting his mouth off at Pearl during the time out.

Anthony seemed to care less we won , and was upset his son was benched late. This is dynamic that needs to be resolved. At least we wont have the access to our bench on the road.

On separate occasions against Xavier Tony Jones and Chuck Person told Daddy Mason to sit down, shut up, and let them do their jobs.

I remember Mason doing something dumb at the end of the game too and sitting. Must be what MCT is referring to.

Hopefully he gets his head screwed on straight because he is a valuable asset. He also needs to learn to make FT along with Reed.

If Reed can make FT, we can break a last minute press against opponents for a change.

My first thought was AMs conditioning may not be where it needs to be yet after the injury.... but it could've been his defense. Idk. Watching a game in TV, I have a harder time following sub patterns than if I'm there.

Regardless, his dad needs to sit down and stfu. His son has three months left.

He made a very sloppy pass into the post, and Bowers had no shot of catching it and it went out of bounds. Pearl ripped into him and Mason got an attitude and left the huddle. Pearl wasn't having it

I think yo uhave the roles reversed. Pretty sure Bowers had it around the elbow and tried passing it to Mason who was going to cut inside. Bowers basically threw it into the AU bench. Then Mason had an attitude about not looking to help out Bowers

The entire team needs to work on that.

K.C. and Malcolm aren't completely blowing it on the line, but they're the only two.

I can almost guarantee we're going to miss at least one whenever we shoot them.

I started turning around and staring at my living room wall when we were at the line Saturday night.

Don't forget KT who can shoot FT.

I don't understand this systemic FT problem we always have. Not that hard to practice wide open shots. I'm unathletic and can hit one. Don't see what a scholarship players excuse is

I'm glad Chuck and Tony got into daddy Mason's ear. Don't make us go Cecil Newton on you!

He's not bad, either.

Living in NC, I'm used to watching UNC and Duke, so I can be a little spoiled when it comes to basketball.

I hope they get it fixed; I'm tired of saying, "Free-throws are killing us," 8 times a game.

But, they're gelling like I thought/hoped they would, so I expect that will improve, as well.

And, just so I don't hi-jack the thread, Anthony Mason needs to STFU.

He shot 87% last year

But as a team we are at about 63-64% which is just awful. Really isn't an excuse for that

I assume these are pretty abysmal 3 pt stats?

72% this year. There's plenty of time to bring that up, however.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the Guy.

He's the sole reason we've had a chance to win a few games, and I recognize that.

Mason didn't play at all in the second OT I don't think he played in the first either aft BP chewed his arse.

My starting 5 would be:

Canada
Harrell
Mason
Bowers
Thompson

We are currently ranked 253rd nationally with a 3pt % of 31.2%. Considering those three our are starting guards and all 3 come in below our already cruddy 31.2%, it is bad.
