A lot of walk-ons get reps in scrimmages, especially in spring. Hastings getting thrown to right now is as meaningless as Neil Caudle being in a "competition" for starter against Cam

I agree with this.....but there's a little voice in the back of my head that keeps reminding me gus is our coach.

I understand we have Stove, NCM, and Davis but if Hastings makes plays he makes plays.

I love how Marlon Humphrey(sp) basically said " I guess that white kid was a lot more athletic than we thought" in regards to Renfrow.

If Malzahn will quit dialing up jump ball wheel routes to white boy shorty, I guess Hastings can be alright as well.

Let's get to 10 downvotes and let's get this board rolling, BAY-BEE!

I love that statement, it's like he's trying to gain street cred by pretending he didn't go to Hoover HS and grow up in a million dollar house.

He should be used to athletic little white WRs. Hoover always has one. Marlon played with one that was a preferred walk-on at Bama. Imagine that.

In that context you are right. Not to mention Renfrow schooled Bama two years in a row.

The "" in verbatim:

"Every time he makes a play, I just go like, 'white guy.' I guess he's got some serious talent," Alabama defensive back Marlon Humphrey said, via CBS Sports. "I'm not sure [how he got open so much].""

Not saying this because both Renfrow and Hastings are white but they really do play a lot a like. Good hands, extremely quick in and out of cuts, etc..

He can do some damage on screens, slants, and other quick routes.

Except that Renfrow can hold his own against DBs. Hastings looks 150 pounds soaking wet, has no muscle mass on his upper body, and if a defender checks him at the line then you might as well write Hastings out of the play because he's going to get tossed like a rag doll.

What game was it where Hastings slipped making a break and fell flat on his face causing SW to throw an INT?

I like Hastings. He's got some serious skill and heart. But he's missing some HUGE pieces to the puzzle of being a player at this level. He could be an all-timer somewhere like Samford or JSU, but he's liable to get broke clean in half in the SEC.

Plenty of guys in the NFL are playing slot at comparable size. We've also seen guys his size make plays in the SEC. So I'm not buying this.

Except we have plenty of evidence that this does not happen with Hastings. It is just an Auburn board fantasy that because he is small as white,he is Wes Weller.

Point me to all these 160 pound playmakers you're talking about

Im not negahastings but I dont think there are any slot guys in the NFL at Hastings size. There may be guys that have compatible "height and weight" but Hastings doesn't have any muscle on him at all, which is like saying Cam Newton and Big Ben have similar bodies, and most guys that play at 5'10 170 in the nfl are fast as hell. Hastings is probably a 4.65 guy and he is quick as hell with good hands, but I do agree he will probably get thrown around a lot if he starts at receiver.

Slot receivers are always developed.

Hastings fits that mold.

How horrible it must be to have a receiver who can reliably catch a pass, right?

Courtney Taylor doesn't play for Auburn anymore, ya senile bastid.

Surely this isn't in reference to Hastings. He had some drops.

Don't worry, Terry Beasley will fill his position.
