What the hell man? Dude played in almost every game as a true freshman and if he didn't end up starting this year he'd get a bunch of playing time

quote:

I want to thank Auburn University for the time I was here and I appreciate the coaches and the fans," he wrote. "It was a great journey but it will be better for me to pursue my career elsewhere. #Wareagle"

#AbandonShip

Maybe he and Steele don't jive well? Whatever it is, hopefully it's for reasons that don't involve football.

I'm perplexed as well. Guess he doesn't like Steele?

New DB coach.

New expectations.

Good luck to him, but if you want to bash a head against a wall, I'd try Muschamp and T-Rob's first.

P.S. I'm going to take great joy when USCe crashes and burns this year and for years thereafter. It is sincerely going to bring a genuine smile to my face.

I don't understand people who have a grudge against Muschamp and TRob. They each got offered better jobs and took them. What's the problem?

Just the way things went at the end. Probably shouldn't have chased that rabbit in the first place.

I just got that, not sure what to make of this one. Strange thing is that I don't remember Malzahn talking about him on Tiger Trek as part of the DB group now that I think of it.

They both were instrumental in bringing top talent to a depleted defense and got young guys playing at a high level by end of the year. Seems like a positive to me

Tim Irvins probably wasn't an ideal fit for Steele and is choosing to find a place that is. I'm sure his size was a big part despite how hard he hits

ETA: If Irvin wasnt a fit from AUs end, I hope we let him transfer to USCe. We don't play them and he may not have a ton of top options due to size

Nah make him transfer outside the conference. He can find a fit somewhere else

A 5'8" DB with the skill set of a SS isn't an ideal fit for ANY defense. But Tim Irvin was a fricking football player with a nose for the ball and you FIND a place for a guy like that. Irvin is basically a Bob Sanders clone, and once teams started looking past his size and just let him play Sanders became an All-American, 2x First Team All-Pro, and NFL Defensive POY.

I really think that's been one of the biggest problems we've had on D since Tuberville left. Everybody we've had since is so concerned with finding guys that are the right "fit" that we pass on guys that are just flat out good football players that actually want to play for us and it seems like we get burned every time. Vic Beasley, Jayron Kearse, Jarrad Davis, Key and Bowers at LSU. I know I'm forgetting some big ones and could still go on but you get the point.

I'd have to think that regardless of restrictions the top 2 candidates would be Miami because of his uncle, and Texas where he was commited before we flipped him.

But yeah, if he's not on our side I definitely don't want to play against him.

Last year was the first year where I at least felt the defense was heading in the right direction.

I hate Tims gone. I loved his tenacity. But I am also cautiously optimistic about this secondary, due to the size we have (and Tim lacked). I think we can be REAL good, with the starters at the very least.

Natural attrition for a defensive group seeing it's 4th coordinator in 5 years. Sucks he's leaving, and I'm excited to see the talented players behind him.

Man hate to see that. Love the way he attacked the ball in the air and was super physical. Wonder if the grad transfer had anything to do with this?

Still very optimistic about our secondary in 2016 tho

Had a heart attack when I saw the article about a sophomore DB transferring. Thought it was Davis, it was Irvin, level of fricks given dropped dramatically.

Who cares. Tim Irvin had shitty stats as a freshman. Below average player. Next below average freshman in line up
