Tiger mascot question

With Mike's unfortunate passing this week, I've been thinking about the tiger we used to keep on campus. Anyone know what happened to the last one or why they decided to stop keeping one. I can't remember and can't find anything about it on the googles.
I remember it was there when I was a freshman in '90, because I walked past him everyday going to Haley Center. But that's about all I remember.
Thanks and WDE.

AFAIK, Auburn's tiger is a Malayan tiger, which is critically endangered. This means it would be next to impossible to get one without a massive conservation operation already in place, which would be incredibly cost prohibitive for the school/state.
LSU's tiger is a standard Bengal, which are endangered but about 10x as populous worldwide. (Wiki says Mike V and VI were actually mixed breed)

If this is true, I'd love to see a picture of it.

I was a freshman in 93. Ate a lot of Mr Gatti's pizza. Never saw a live tiger mascot on campus. Not a fan of wild animals in cages. RIP Mike.

Student 1980-85 here...
I don't remember a live tiger. I don't even remember any history of a live tiger.
Drugs are the only reasonable explanation.

You guys are starting to really freak me out. I see a live tiger mascot every single saturday during football season. I'm not crazy. If this is some type of group joke on me, I'm not a fan.

Yes it's the same chain but it's called Gatti's now. It used to be next to the commons off S Gay before it closed.

We all know about Aubie though. This conversation is about a fierce counterpart to his lovable and sweet nature.

I started at AU in 1979 and graduated in 83. To my knowledge we never had a real tiger. We've had lots of Eagles. We used to have the Eagle cage next to Haley center which was cool. Now they keep them at the Raptor Center.
I never heard of us having a real tiger ever.

My childhood consisted of Mr Gattis pizza and the arcade. I spent all my chore money on those dumb tokens
