third and short: Gus calls inside run for White

Really?
This was right before the fifth FG.
I mean when Cam or Nick were QB that is a solid call.
White has some skills, but inside keeper is not going to get much.
Some of the third down calls make me wonder if Gus will send Carlson out on third down sometime in case there is a bad snap. Just weird.

Here we go

How about 3rd and one on the first drive and he throws it? The receiver dropped it, but we should have run KJ.

The worst was the 3rd down at the goal line right before halftime when Pettway got the ball and there was no one designated to block the MLB. That was one of the worst designed plays I've ever seen.

Idk, White on a designed QB run up the middle may be worse than Pettway vs MLB

Was that schematic issue or just a missed assignment? I have a hard time believing that we kept a MLB completely unassigned.

On that particular play, one of our OL fell down.

That was a busted play.

I don't recall many if any outside or off tackle runs on Saturday. Can anyone clarify for me?

I commented on that play on twitter. I didn't love the play call, but I totally understand WHY we called that play. It was a veer-esque looking run play and I just couldn't fathom that LSU would be prepared for White to keep it up the gut. I haven't gone back and watched, but I'm guessing we missed a block and that is what caused it to get blown up.

our strongest play was toss right with Pettway. we could have run that every play similar 2013's game planning. we ran it about 3 times I think. that play has been there all year against everyone and we rarely run it.

The QB draw can be great if it's executed properly. White ran one earlier in the game for about 7 yards IIRC

It worked once earlier in the game on third and even longer.

How was that a busted play? There was a QB and a RB in the backfield. The WR's were spread out. Was SW supposed to pick up the LB?

No.It was obviously busted when the linebacker wasn't picked up when he came through the A-gap...

Yep, was waiting for someone to post that, and that's not the first time it's worked this year either. Did the same thing twice against TAMU, got the first down once and got stuffed once.
