The fact that Gogue needs a recommendation at all is very sad...Fire them all...including Gouge...

Jacobs and Gogue are flat-out retarded. They have to be. They're just asking to get fired, and if Chiz comes back (can't believe I'm saying this) and we go 3-9 again, that's exactly what will happen.

Maybe the BOT will take action sooner and oust Gogue before then.

Jacobs' loyalty to Chizik and Gogue's loyalty to Jacobs are some of the most sickening things I've seen at my university. What a frickin' embarrassment.

I'm fully prepared to forget about college football next season if Auburn fricks this up. This is an opportunity to turn the program around and regain some of what the great teams of the past established and if those in charge won't pull the trigger, I won't even tune the TV to a sports channel next season.

Relax, this was all part of saving Jacobs has very little to do with Chizik.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you have been wrong on this subject of late.

Please tell me what/who leads you to beleive this.

I don't know any insiders, but I do know some connected alumni who are not happy with Chizik, but are willing to give him another year.

As far as I understood, all Gogue said, is that he will listen to his AD's recommendation. I'm pretty sure that's why there is an AD in the first place. Not once did it say that he will obey whatever crazy arse plan JJ proposes. It really sounds as if most posters don't realize that Gogue is over the whole university, including academia, not just the football program.

It's reactionary based on the fact of why should he listen to a guy he should be firing in the first place.

If you can't be angry about the state of auburn football (and major athletics in general) then yo've reached a zen like state that even budda would envy.

Jay Jacobs recommendation on Gene Chizik's future will carry weight with Auburn president

This is what is says.

A guy who should have been fired already will have his recommendation carry weight.

Been avoiding the board so I don't get wrapped up in all of these coaching rumors, then I come back to see this. I'm out, guys.

This tells me we will have another crappy season next year. Auburn University needs true leadership. Get ready to be set back another 4 years. Auburn is about to become Ole Miss/KY.

As I have said, permanent decline in Auburn football. Thanks Jay you flaming idiot, glad you sit around and make bank while we watch our school become the laughing stock of the country. The fact this idiot has any say other than where he wants to apply for his next job blows my mind. Frick you Auburn leadership.

Well I did have a strong reason to believe that Chizik would be released this past Monday, (that did not happen). While others where saying that Jacobs would be fired, I said he would be retained (before any of the message boards, JGT, PM, etc)... One of the reasons JJ was going to be saved is because Gogue did not want to be the PR face when we released Chizik, too much change, etc. On Monday, the mood in the athletic department did a 180 from believing they would be around, to knowing that would not be the case. Dr. Gogue will make the final decision, but I do not believe he will recommend that we keep Chizik. To do that will threaten not only his job, but Dr. Gogue. Friendship only goes so far.
