Soo what's the deal with JJ?

As an Au fan I like that out fanbase let go of 04 to some degree and claims the games we actually won (unlike bama). I'm gonna have to disagree with JJ on this one.

I'm not wading through the thread on the rant. I hope we don't claim any more. Not even 83 or 04. AU will catch so much flack for this. Bama did it quietly, several years ago. Long before social media could blast out what BS it is.
Can JJ just do that? I would think he would have to discuss with some other authority.
I just don't see fans wanting to get behind this.

I don't care either way. If Auburn claims them I will troll the frick out of other fanbases when it comes to ranking best schools in the conference threads.

To some of us, its not that big of a deal. Why shouldn't we claim 1913, 1983, or 2004? For the first two, there were no legitimate titles back then, just OPINION polls. And AFAIC one opinion poll is just as good as another. And in 2004, I have no doubt we were the best team. And, in the end, the ONLY undefeated team. So there is no reason why we shouldn't claim that one as well.
To those who seem against it, it seems to me like y'all are afraid of getting your feelings hurt because the Big Mean Bama and UGA fans might make fun of you about it.

Not thrilled with it. ... But that being said. .
I think we have legit claims to some. I don't see a problem claiming based on how other schools have claimed

I've never been big on bragging about the total MNCs anyway. It's all about the current. We're SEC Champs right now, coulda been MNC champs. Come 8/31, it all starts fresh.

It'd be shameful if AU went the retroactive route. I wouldn't be happy with it at all. I'd take zero pride in the claims.

Yeah, that's it.
Some of us just don't take pride in the retroactive claiming of "titles". I find it ironic you're claiming those that don't support the notion of following Bama's lead are scared, yet we're the ones that are confident and content with the current state and history of the AU program. I don't care to be in a "title" dick measuring competition with the Bamatards.

Just issue a press release claiming the ones we want and drop it. Then in 2-3 years we add a big plaque on the outside of JHS. The next year we add shirts and put it on the stationary. Amirite

You don't have to take pride in it as a fan. But the players and coaches from 2004 and 1983 deserve to be recognized as much as others that have been recognized elsewhere. It's not about what the fans want, it's about what the players and those involved deserve.

This. Don't much GAF what we "officially" claim. Everyone that follows college football closely knows we were the 1983 champs and may have been in 2004 (never got the chance to beat USC and they never got the chance to beat us).
I just like seeing the gumps get all pissy and insecure about us over this.

Well it's a good thing my statement didn't infer I was speaking solely on behalf of myself. Glad we've got that hashed out.
