Brannigan will definitely enjoy this

quote:

What it is At its core, the 247Sports College Team Talent Composite is a linear index, ranking college football rosters based on current talent. We do that using a proprietary algorithm that pulls the 247Sports Composite prospect rankings for each of the top 85 players on a given team's active roster. By using the 247Sports Composite prospect rankings which pull ratings equally from all major recruiting sites, we are able to minimize inherent regional or network bias that may exist to provide the most accurate and comprehensive industry opinion on each prospect. Using those player rankings for each of the top 85 prospects on a given roster, we use a Gaussian distribution formula (bell curve), to weight each prospect's value towards his team's point total. Based on that distribution, the top 40 percent of each roster based on their prospect ratings account for roughly 80 percent of the team's point total. This formula (as opposed to a simple average of player ratings) allows us to tell a more representative story of each team's talent. In essence, we're saying that the top 40 percent of a roster represents the players that make the most impact on the game and are therefore weighted more than the back half of the roster which generally consists of redshirts, scout team players and special teams contributors. Our formula also contends that the highest rated prospects in every class will have a disproportionate positive impact than any negative impact that lower rated prospects may have.

2. USC
3. OSU
4. FSU
5. LSU
6. Auburn
7. UGA
8. ND
9. Michigan

well everyone else on there looks fairly legitimate and have looked like national contenders, at least up to this point, with one exception.

edit: ok maybe two exceptions, usc is perpetually overrated

Just and excuse we use. We have talent. Just not getting the goodie out of it

Tell that to TCU. They would kick our arse with all their 40t ranked recruiting classes.

We are way underachieving.

Norte Dame, Michigan, and USC are always in the top ten of these rankings. They always suck. I don't put a whole lot of stock in recruiting rankings, but do agree that they are a tool to use for measure.

Here is the reason, 34 players make up the majority of the weight. That is not even the whole 2 deep.

We have some talent, but no depth. Plus, Kris Frost was a 5star , so was Shon Coleman . Carl "Ouchie" Lawson is counted in there and never plays.

Two most important positions on the field:

1. Qb
2. Pass rusher

Two things we don't have.

The defensive recruiting has been sub par. We are not deep from a depth standpoint ($1 to Dubose).

See I dont understand the claim about lack of talent on D. Now some of it is hurt and some is young. But Monty Adams was a 5 star, Cowart was a 5, Frost was a 4-5, Matthews was a 4 coming out at UGA. Lambert was a top kid. Lawson, when healthy is a monster.

Injuries and youth are our problems.

absolutely correct. We're stocked with talented guys. Are they tough? Nope. Are they guys who live/breathe football? Maybe some of them. But guys like Frost, who ARE superbly talented, kill us. They look pretty in a uniform but are softer than Charmin extra soft. But make no mistake we are completely loaded with dudes that are incredibly talented, on defense. We've just been utterly snake-bitten this year and some of our guys don't have it between the ears.

Because using recruiting ranking to evaluate players how have been on campus is really stupid.

These ranking are based on potential. When that potential does not materialize, then that "talent" is meaningless.

Frost and Lambert prove the point I have been trying to make. The potential does not happen sometimes, and we have no one behind them to back them up or push them to compete.

OK, let me dig deeper into D-line Recruiting. It all starts up front, you need at least 8 solid players. A position that needs Juniors and Seniors. Very weak Junior and Senior Class. Monty is the only major contributor and is having his best year.

2011 (Redshirt Seniors)
Angelo Blackson (3 star) NFL
Gabe Wright (4 star) NFL
JaBrian Nile (3 star) ??? No longer on team
Keymiya Harrell (3 star)

2012 Year (Before the 3-9, Chiz last recruiting year) SENIORS
Gimel President (3 star) (
Tyler Nero (Over-rated 4 star) No longer on team

2013 (Malzahns First year - Good Year, but)
Ben Bradley (4 star) Juco
Monty Adams (5 star)
Carl Lawson (5 Star) - Injured
Elijah Daniel (4 star) - Gone
===============================================
2014 (Sophomores)
Devaroe Lawrence (2 Star) (JUCO - Junior)
Dontavious Russell (4 star)
Andrew Williams (4 star)
Justin Thornton (4 star)
DaVonte Lambert (4 star) (JUCO - Senior)

2015 (Freshmen)
Bryon Cowart (5 star)
Prince Wanagho (4 star) Injured
Jantavius Johnson (3 star)
Maurice Swain (3 star)
