Would be foolish to let Herman and Fuente go to other schools without gauging interest in Auburn. Fuente coupled with Muschamp would be a homerun. Seems at least worthy of a phone call. What say you?

Would be a terrible year to look for a coach. USC(e&w), Miami, VT, Maryland, maybe Texas. Some average coaches bout to get paid. Don't want.

Which is why we JetGate. Look, but keep what we have if we get turned down. This idea of you cannot look for a coach while you already have one is ludicrous. That is done all the time in the real world, but someone is it unprofessional when it comes to coaching.

We can't keep paying coaches not to coach

Whether you like it or not, Gus is coming back next year. We cannot afford to keep paying buyouts and we will never get a decent coach again if we cut Gus loose so quickly after we cut Gene

Next year it'll be two-three new home runs, the year after that a handful of other homerun candidates.

Just feel like these guys are flavors of the week. Not that they are bad, but I don't think they're can't-miss hires. We'll see new versions of them before too long.

They're just the hot names and it's a long line to hire this year.

No. We need stability. he has a good three year record. One bad season=hot seat, second bad season and he will be done.

Bingo. It's ride or die with Gus for the foreseeable future, or we go to the dark ages.

Or Herman for that matter. Upstart coaches are not necessarily homerun hires right off the bat.

Five years ago Gus WAS the up and coming assistant coach...

It's a crapshoot.

LOL no. Those guys are still largely unproven. Now if we were to fly to see Chip Kelly then that's another thing

USCw is the only job open that is 'better' than this one. Miami is a joke, VTech is below us, Maryland LOL, USCe LOL. Texas is better but I doubt it opens.

So tired of the "if we fire Gus, no one will want to coach here" mentality.

First of all, we should not settle. We have had just TWO winning conference records since 2007. That is unacceptable at a place like Auburn which should always be competing for championships.

Second, this is exactly what Alabama fans said about Mike Shula back in 2006. And I think they're pretty happy with who they got. Money and tradition talk, both of which Auburn has plenty of. We could get a great coach if our AD wasn't so concerned with hiring people based on personal friendship and relationship rather than someone who's actually proven.

Having said that, Gus should get another year to turn things around. Every coach should get 4 years. But based on what I have seen and am seeing, I highly doubt Gus is the right person for this job. He strikes gold when it comes to finding JUCO players who don't really need to be developed but when it comes to taking a player from high school and developing them, we just flat out haven't been able to do that since Tuberville and the play calling has been atrocious at best. This isn't 2013 when we could run the same play over and over again and score points.

LOL

I love revisionist history.

Nick Marshall was such an amazing QB in JUCO.

Wait, didn't he throw more INTS than TDs?
