Should the nature of JJ's interceptions cause more or less concern?

Chime in...

I wonder how much they worked on his reading and decision making between the UL game and JSU game. If they worked on it a lot, yet he still made the same decisions/mistakes, then I'm not sure if it's a fixable problem inside JJ's head.

Some of it is play calling, that is what Gus alluded to. Gus wanted to believe JJ could make certain throws, but he cant.

Personally, I don't think it is fixable. In high school he threw 80TDs and 33INTs.

What? He can make any throw required of him. He's just telegraphing all his throws and using poor mechanics when under pressure.

He doesn't need an opportunity to check down. Play action fire away. Pocket 4-wide is the worst place he can be.

Are these stats real? Why haven't we talked about them yet?

Probably because only 7 of the INTs came from his senior year and he had 31 TDs that year.

is it telegraphing if you just throw it to the other team? The DB's arent even making plays to the ball

The DBs are watching his eyes, which is exactly why they are in perfect position to make INTs.

33 INTs over three years really isn't that bad. Brandon Cox threw 32 at Auburn at nearly the same att/int ratio.

Marshall also had a ton of INTs in juco and he improved a lot in 2013.

One hopes we'd be better now than the Brandon Cox years, though.

Brandon Cox is the embodiment of the under-the-radar/comeback Tigers. I'm tired of that. I want to be ranked high and perform to expectations.

One played in the SEC. The other was playing high school.

I will be concerned if the trend continues. I am hopeful this is like a stomach bug and the 24 hour virus has been pooped out.

fricking this. No disrespect to Cox, dude was a warrior. But can we win a damn game when we're supposed to without serious heart trauma?

I don't have time to go back and watch all 5 picks right now, but the ones I am picturing in my head appeared to be the same issue. Two deep, JJ was checking down, saw the deep safeties and the corner deeper than his flat receiver so he fired. The problem is that the LB had come out underneath and he threw it right to him. I think Gus might be blaming himself for giving JJ too many options. As a first year QB, he might need to have an option or two and then either tuck it and fall up field or throw it at the jumbotron.
