AU loses to Mercer, Gus is fired, Rodney Garner becomes interim HC, allows CL to run offense and we run table in SEC.

I realize there's no way in hell this happens. I'd never want to lose to Mercer anyway because we'd never hear the end of it. Plus, I don't know if JJ would pull the trigger.

Honestly, this is the first time I can remember being apathetic towards AU football. At least in 2012 we just didn't have the talent and the OC was just bad, but we all knew who was calling the plays. I've been one wanting to see Gus succeed. He does everything right, EXCEPT let the OC call the plays when that's the one thing that needs to happen to win games.

With that said, my other musing: Vandy will make a statement against KSU tonight. Mason's name will start to be mentioned in coaching searches. I said it in the coaching search thread, but he would be a great hire for AU. I follow Vandy bc they're my second team, and Mason has shown he's growing as a coach over the last three years. He's also got fire that would resonate with players and our fans.

I could not agree more.

They have been my preseason pick to win the East.

My bold pick before season was east would come down to Vandy and South Carolina.

Mason started rocky but he's trending up. Unfortunately, same can't be said for Gus.

Am I crazy in not giving up on season just yet? If we lose any upcoming games before LSU then might start feeling apathetic but with our defense I have a hard time saying season is already over

Could have said it better. My point is this year's team has more talent than in 2012

Now you're just spouting off nonsense. So a team in 2012 that didn't have talent went to a national championship the next year with 75% of the same roster?

OK.

I mean we did add or have available Jay Prosch, Nick Marshall, Corey Grant, Cameron Artis Payne, Alex Kozan and a healthy Avery Young

Adding a great QB, 2000 yards of rushing, an great FB and 2 starting OL is a big deal

It's like Kevin Sumlin saw our Dumpster fire and said

"Hold my beer. I'll show you a real Dumpster fire"

Has always struck me as one of those type of guys that prefers coaching at the Stanfords and Vandys and not the factories.

Nah, I'm the same way. I'm not super optimistic, but there's a significant enough chance our offense gets its shite together to be, at least, vaguely competent. If that happens, every game is back on the table.

shite the bed before LSU and that hope goes out the window though.

I really tried but after the awful offensive play calling last week, I just don't trust Gus to stay out of the way.

I get that. I am far from super optimistic but not ready to say we are doomed just yet. Lose before LSU, then I will jump into the melt with everybody else
