We don't seem as dominate or at least didn't against K-State. I couldn't tell if it were just mis-reads by Nick or backs not finding the hole (or hitting it fast enough).
When that happens - I would like to get Peyton and Roc a few carriers.

Our oline is not as good as last year is the #1 issue. Losing Koran really hurts because now we have 4 guys in different places from last year.
Next reasons are doing different things, like sending corners on a blitz to stop Nick's outside run.
Different backs are not the answer. We will see lots of runs v lamo

-O-line was dominant in run blocking last year. It can still gel, but Kozan was an all-American type and GRob was an animal last year.
-CAP is not as quick through the hole as Mason was. Not as shifty or explosive either. He's good up the middle for powering a few yards, but he's not as good in space or even getting into space.
-Nick made several bad reads Thursday night. Last season he was money on the read option.

I agree. Kozan is a bigger loss on the line than Robinson is. Colemon is more than serviceable at left tackle but losing Kozan threw the line all over the place.
As for our running backs, since we have burned Thomas's chance at a redshirt, I would like to see him worked in to games more with Barber. I think their ceiling is much higher than the CAP/Grant combo.
On a third note, I don't think we have committed to the run like we were since the LSU game last year. We seem to be over thinking things with out offense again.

The word is dominant. Not dominate. You are dominant. You dominate something. Sorry, just a pet peeve.
We had one bad game running the ball. If the same thing happens the next three weeks, then I think we have cause for concern. K St is maybe year in and year out the most disciplined team in the country. Bill Snyder's teams just rarely make mistakes, plus we run similar styles of offenses, other than the speeds of them. It seemed like they didn't snap the ball, until the end of the game, with the play clock above 5 seconds. Our offense works best when we get in a rhythm, and that carries over from possession to possession. They just didn't allow us to get much of any rhythm, and when they'd hold the ball for so long, we never had a chance to carry any of that over from possession to possession.

I agree totally. I think it was a Thursday night, on the road, one time thing. I am not worried one bit.

I think KSU shook a lot of the confidence in Nick's read option, but honestly there are going to be games where he gets blown uo no matter what. It's a valid defense against that type of offense.
I was surprised at the lack of push by our line sometimes.

KSU defense is one of a few defenses in the country that can play disciplined enough. They were going to stop the run no matter what & force NMR to win the game. Some of you may disagree but outside of a couple of passes I thought NM threw the ball well. Our receivers shite the bed. If we catch half of those drops the game goes totally different.

Thought the exact same thing.

All of this. I like CAP, but would love to see our offense with a guy like Roc who could take it the distance on any play

quote:Agree but we also miss Prosh the most...very underrated what he did last year. He made key blocks. Didn't see that happen Thursday. Disciplined Defenses are tough to beat along with execution. The dropped passes hurt along with the windy conditions. The field was also a little slippery...noticed cuts where Grant was sliding during the cut. I think CAP is fine and Roc may need to learn to block better. Wouldn't mind seeing Barber some more but lets see how the next couple of games go..a lot of teams had an off week this past week...

K St's LB's played really well. They didn't get out of their lanes and we didn't have anyone to block them when they were just sitting there waiting for the run to come to them.

Fulse looked tired against Kstate. Needs to get his conditioning in order. I wish we used the Hback more in the passing game.

I actually agree with this. It would have changed the look of their defense had our receivers made those catches.

Probably. Duke dropped one with a 2 step lead on the DB and would definitely have taken it in for the score. 6 drops will kill an offense in a game like that.

The left side of our offensive line is not very good at this point in the season. Moving Slade to LG has been a poor decision and Coleman doesnt know his blocking assignments. Dismukes, Miller and Young are holding their own.
Cap is our best running back and its not even close. He has great vision and balance. His ability to move between the tackles is amazing. He always falls forward and his hands are great out of the backfield.
Grant does what Grant does. Speed sweeps and a change of pace between the tackles. We dont know enough about Barber to make any kind of judgment.
Roc has good speed and agility, but I havent seen enough to say he is our best option.

I have seen him miss a fair share of blocks.

"Dominate" is a verb.
"Dominant" is an adjective.
