We have a pretty crappy trend of our highly rated recruits leaving Auburn for reasons not graduation/NFL. We have lose on avg 3 or so 4*+ recruits for every recruiting class.

2016- Woody Barrett/ Antwuan Jackson / Landon Rice **Maybe Kyle Davis? ?
2015- Jovon Robinson/ Jordan Colbert/ Tim Irvin
2014- Roc Thomas/ Duke Williams / Justin Thornton / Kalvarez Bessent / Derrick Moncrief
2013- Elijah Daniels / Jovon RD1

I would be curious to compare that to other teams. If I get some free time might see how it compares to our rivals

This is probably fairly normal for most schools is it not? I mean - look at Bama - they lose two 5* QBs within a period of about two months.

Attrition is normal but we seem to lose a high number of our top rated recruits

Can't really use Bama for this since their entire team is made up of high 4* / 5*

Issue is, Bama replaces them with 5 stars, while we generally give scholarships to walk on players to make up the difference. Either the walk ons or 2* back ups. Surprisingly a majority of NFL players are 2* and 3* players. However you have a much higher chance of success loading your roster with 5* players in college.

Not really gonna go through the trouble of looking it up...but I'd guess that most programs have attrition similar to this.

I believe most programs have attritionnumbers like ours, but that is regularly losing ~3 of our top ~6 players

Ours seems to be concentrated at the top end of our recruiting talent

probably because they carry a sense of entitlement when the arrive on the Plains and dont know how to handle not being catered to like they were during their recruitment.

Might just be the ones we hear about. The backup long snapper quitting to focus on school doesn't exactly make the paper or message boards.

The guys mentioned weren't all top rated. Duke, Roc and Jovon were 5* guys and Jackson was a top 50 recruit. I'd say those stung from talent standpoints but Jovon and Duke were both 2 year guys so not too huge long-term. They also had some diva issues so they were locker rooms dividers that needed to go. And with Roc, he obviously wasn't what we thought he was, seeing as he didn't exactly set records at JSU.

Someone posted that Jackson had some issues with putting in the time/effort in the weight room that was required of him and that led to him being pushed a little harder than he liked and that may have led to his transferring. I hate it for him, if so.

We have had some obvious problem children that needed to go - Roc, Jovon, etc.

The rest of them seem to be standouts that were third string and were not going to get to play much until their sophomore year and likely not start until junior or senior year.

It is tough to hold a kid out from playing early and keep him at any school when there are other avenues available. These are not students who love Auburn and want to be there, these are athletes looking for the shortest route to get paid. There is no incentive for them to wait on playing time. Even Juco gets them there faster much of the time. Look for that to be even bigger if Last Chance U keeps going and shining some spotlights on those football factories.

Bama - arrested for drugs and guns - promoted to starting lineup

Auburn - argues with teammate - OFF THE TEAM!
