Not ideal.
quote:

It’s the first day of summer semester classes at Auburn for a trio of offensive linemen, freshman Calvin Ashley and graduate transfers Wilson Bell and Casey Dunn.

Bell, a 6-5, 320-pound guard, started 18 games the past two seasons at Florida State, including every game in 2015.

Dunn, a two-year starter at center at Jacksonville State, earned second team All-America honors.
Did we know we were getting Bell?

Malzahn also announced that two redshirt freshmen, defensive lineman Antwuan Jackson Jr. and defensive back Marlon Character Jr., will transfer.

Wasn't expecting the transfers. Were these known?

I don't think so. Losing another DB is exactly what we need right now and dadgummit I had high hopes for Jackson

Wow. That hurts. Wasn't Character getting a lot of praise from the coaches?

What the heck? Losing depth at DT it not good at all given our class last year and what looks to be a lackluster one again this year.

I wonder it Jackson couldn't handle CRG and Character didn't mesh with Brown's scheme. Seems like the only plausible explanation for transferring here.

Marcello reporting Character was basically dismissed. Apparently he had an "incident" with teammate recently and was encouraged to leave. Says Jackson not involved

Based on our Secondary depth. If he was causing trouble he needed to go though

Because we don't have alot of secondary depth and Marlon Character would of played?

Yeah I don't really understand what he's getting at

We have like three safeties rn, Character coulda helped if someone goes down

ETA: I don't think it's huge but it's certainly not ideal

We have a pretty crappy trend of our highly rated recruits leaving Auburn for reasons not graduation/NFL. We have lose on avg 3 or so 4*+ recruits for every recruiting class.

2016- Woody Barrett/ Antwuan Jackson / Landon Rice **Maybe Kyle Davis?
2015- Jovon Robinson/ Jordan Colbert/ Tim Irvin
2014- Roc Thomas/ Duke Williams / Justin Thornton / Kalvarez Bessent / Derrick Moncrief
2013- Elijah Daniels / Jovon RD1

Neither loss should have an impact on this year. If we need Character or Jackson to play a ton of snaps then we already in some deep waters. It does hurt in 2018 and beyond. Basically the 2 guys I thought would start at safety in 2018 (Boston and Character) are gone. Need to hit at S this recruiting cycle and also hope that Carlito Gonzalez and Jordyn Peters are ready to go
