Definitely one of his best moments & he's a great guy in person but Jim Fyffe was a lot better on calling football & basketball as a whole.

I have come to like and appreciate Rod and he has had his share of great calls, but I miss Jim Fyffe. That guy to me will ALWAYS be the voice of AU football. The guy who invented "Touchdown Auburn!!" just to piss off Bama folks.

Absolutely cannot stand to hear Rod call Auburn bball games. He is so negative and gets so down when things are going against us.

Basically if AU does poorly in any sport which is usually basketball Rod gets depressed. I don't mind because I get just as frustrated and disappointed as him
I still remember how just sad he sounded in the 2013 UGA game before the TD pass to Louis. He was so pissed we had blown that lead

I'd much rather listen to someone call a game that has pride and love for his team than just another goober trying to work his way up the podium to a national radio broadcast position.

quote:I agree. I just wish Rod would paint a clearer picture with the action sometimes plus be a little less homerish & more real eyed w/ the refs or umps.

To his credit he's been better about the umps this baseball season.

My lord that brings back memories of that night.
I basically remember everything that happened that day until about two hours after that runback

Rod Bramblett... great at his job, Auburn Man.
Jim Fyfe... fantastic at his job, Auburn Legend.
Kinda unfair to Rod to compare them really.

I agree. I've helped with some fundraising for Auburn that Rod has been part of and he is one of the most genuine and likable people I've ever met. He wears his emotions on his sleeve which is what makes his calls so great when we're playing well. But you can't compare anyone to Fyfe.

Olds will say Jim Fyffe was the best ever. They do not realize that Barmblett is the Fyffe of the next generation. I honestly cannot remember a time before Rob.

Well, sorry about that young'un.
Keep your grades up and you might get accepted to Auburn when you graduate high school.

What are you 12?

quote:That's funny because some of Fyffe's greatest calls you have no idea what's going on unless you're watching.
I just wish Rod would paint a clearer picture with the action sometimes

quote:Fyffe's last call was 13 years ago and I'd say most don't remember individual sporting events until they're 8 or older. My first memories of hearing Rod calls were 2004 and I'm now 22. So yes it's possible.
What are you 12?
Thankfully I grew up Auburn so I recognize all of Fyffe's calls
