Complications from diabetes. 53 years old (and a couple of months younger than me).

Former AU great passes

Sometime during the winter of '82, I was at a party hosted by Molly Brown, daughter of legendary NBA HC Hubie Brown, who was attending AU at the time. Needless to say a lot of jocks were there. At one point I was chatting up the ladies in the living room, with the only light coming from the kitchen. All of a sudden the room went totally dark, and I turned to see who had switched off the light in the kitchen - only to discover the light hadn't been switched off, just completely blocked, by one guy: Donnie, who had just stepped into the doorway.

I know today's players are even bigger, but at the time he was the largest human being I had ever seen. And a helluva nice guy, as I remember (of course he could afford to be nice to me, since he outweighed me by about 180 lbs)

RIP #79.

Ha, we may have been at the same party.

She was good friends (sorority sisters, I think) with the girlfriend of my roommate/lead guitarist. I remember her as, umm, kind of a dour personality. In fact the first time I saw Debbie Downer on SNL I thought, "oh, so that's what Molly Brown's up to these days..."

Uh. yes.

All I will say is IWNHI. Her claim to fame was her dad. in HS she had a boyfriend I played football with who was a nice guy. Molly was nice enough.

We both went to AU, but I didnt hang in the same crowd as her. So I am pretty sure we werent at the same party.

Yeah, I didn't exactly hang with Molly either, like I said she was a friend of a friend. Pretty sure the party where I met Donnie Humphrey was the only one of hers I got invited to.

I hung out at WEGL and played in a semi-punk band, we were probably a little too low rent and geeky to run with her crowd. But she was pretty cool, once you got past the Debbie Downer thing...

Donnie Humphrey was a straight bad-arse on the gridiron.

And he knocked my dick in the dirt a number of time playing basketball at the old old Student Act.

RIP, mah man.

We had some awesome D-Lines when Wayne Hall was there with Pat Dye. Defense was our strength for much of the 80's I miss that. A LOT.

DH signed my baseball cap when he showed up to one of my little league games one year. My Dad had to go with me because I was scared to death of him. He could tell I was nervous, and after my Dad gave him a "War Eagle" he spent several minutes talking to us. War Eagle Mr. Humphrey!
