I suspect it's another 300+ yd passing day for Stidham because Mizzou gives such big cushion on the outside (seriously they play like 10 yds off every down). Gonna be a ton of bubble screens and their defense is terrible at tackling. My guess is 500+ yds with 300+ coming through the air and just over 200 on the ground

This has that Mississippi State 2016 feel to me

Offense
Passing: 19 of 29 for 234, 1 TD
Rushing: 46 for 219, 2 TDs
Total Offense: 453 yards, 3 TDs

Defense
Passing: 26 of 44 for 297, 1 TD
Rushing: 14 for 37
Total Defense: 334 yards, 1 TD

Our defense will be tested, especially against the pass. Carlton Davis will most likely get exposed against J'mon Moore. Multiple PI's. He will get benched by the 3rd quarter.

Final
Auburn 27, Mizzou, 13

If MU can't stop the run, then I expect the passing game to be non-existent. Gus won't cross that bridge until he has to. 300-400 yards rushing, 100-150 yards passing. 39 points courtesy of 3 TDs & 6 FGs, one of those TDs possibly being on the defensive side.

I predict we get busy between the 20's and then have about 7 field goals.

Either really good (given Mizzou's defense) or really bad (given Gus). If the former, hopefully Lindsey lets Stidham have a field day and become more comfortable. If the latter, we have a good chance to lose, and if that's the case Gus need not make it to the bus.

I'm aware...but if MU's defense is as advertised, then I fully expect our passing woes to be put on the back burner.

So what your saying is we'll run 10 yard comebacks 10 yard out routes that play perfectly into what their defense is doing. Got it

Have you watched him in 1 on 1 (man coverage) situations this year? He has looked completely overmatched several times, especially against Deon Cain of Clemson. Moore is legit and Drew Lock will target him at least 10 times...

I hope he does well, but what I have seen out of him this year hasn't been great.

Cain had 2 catches for 27 yards

Yes I have. He's been fine

Cain beat him twice. Davis won just as many times as he lost. It was a great battle between two future NFL players

Moore has sucked this year. He could be great and knowing AU will breakout but he's been awful through first 3 weeks

He will continue to be fine

We ran a shite ton of bubble screens against Mercer and I expect we do the same against Mizzou tomorrow

CD was targeted 11 times. Gave up 6 catches for 75 yards and had 1 PI. Granted Cain only had 2 catches, he had the PI against him also.

I'm not saying he sucks, just wanted to mention that it is worth monitoring since Mizzou will probably throw the ball 40-50 times.

I just want the kid to show improvement, not trying to get in a pissing match over it...

Passing
21-30 for 267 yards

Rushing
35 rushes for 272 yards

Total Yards D Allows:
241 Pass, 60 Rush

I really hope we establish the run this game, and get back to running it down a teams throat for close to 300 yards. I think Stidham's ability to turn it around this season and play up to his potential as one of the best QB's in the SEC is ultimately going to be the difference in whether we can compete for the West this year. However, we need to get back to what has made us so successful under Gus, and dominate on the ground. That might get the offense going, and hopefully help Stidham in the passing game.

Carlton Davis needs to stop grabbing on to people when the ball is in the air, but overall I like our corners in this game to play well.

Give me Auburn 38 Mizzou 10

You said he would be benched by the third quarter.... That's just dumb

Also Kevin Steele's comments in that article sum up my thoughts as well
quote:

"It was good," Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele said of Davis' effort. "Everybody wants to say, 'Well, he had three catches on him.' Did anybody see the top knocked off the coverage? No. They threw a lot of balls, a lot of balls, and I think they caught two on him and he had a PI on one. But they were contested throws. He was there and he was contesting and he was fighting. That's a hard position to play, a very hard position to play. And when you've got an accurate quarterback and good receivers, they're going to catch some.

CB ain't easy. You are going to lose some 1v1 battles. However, Davis does an outstanding job of being in position and challenging those 1v1 plays. He's also possibly our best run stopping CBs. Part of the reason AU has been so good on defense this year is they have been able to trust CBs to hold up in 1v1 press man coverage. Davis is a big reason for that confidence.
