Nothing Jay Jacobs has done puts him in the same camp with others that deserve that criticism.

Why would you not want Christian folks to pray for the families of Myers and Person? Do their families deserve what they're currently experiencing?

Its been said before....there are plenty of reasons to not like the job that Jacobs has done overall, but some of us are a bunch of whiners who reach and over criticize every little thing he does.

ETA. Maybe a little harsh in my first assessment. I'll just say I don't support your list.

Yes, that's what I believe. Especially considering some of the hires he's made (Golloway, Myers'etc.)

The AD is burning to the ground around him and he thinks a couple of prayers are going to fix things. It's way past time for JJ to ride off into the sunset.

Well then read the rest of the paragraph:

True.

Probably not true. He's probably prayed at every single meeting he's ever lead. Its who he is. This has absolutely nothing to do with whether he is a good or bad AD.

I am not a constitutional law attorney, but I don't believe this violates the constitution or any other law.

It doesn't. It does however indicate he doesn't keep up with modern business environments.

I'd prefer them to do it on their own time.

When the head of a department of a secular business chairs a regular meeting of that department, a moment of prayer is not an appropriate way to spend the valuable time of those in attendance, for no useful purpose. He could have spent 10 seconds saying "I'd appreciate it if you would consider Myers and Person in your thoughts and prayers in this difficult time" and let it go at that.

Obviously I can't see into any person's heart, but whenever I hear or witness displays similar to what is described, I am tempted to speculate that they are less concerned with the welfare of those they are praying for, and more for how devout and Godly they appear before those assembled.

That said, fire JJ.

The argument is if it violates the establishment clause.

Keep in mind that HOW it happened plays a key role

If Auburn wants to cover their butts, they need Bruce to get up and give an opening prayer next week. That would effectively make it all good in the neighborhood

-AD employee attendance + implied "participation" is mandatory
-Prayer is at a school/government sponsored event
-Prayer is given by someone representing university/athletic department
-Prayer is clearly favoring a specific religion

Very different, or at least that is how the university allows it. The justification for chaplain to be allowed is that players are not required/coerced into attending the prayer + brother Chette is not in an official university position and speaks as a private citizen in that role not on behalf of the university

He will run wild, cause he is not cripple, I predict it will be like Pettway last year come out of nowhere and be awesome. I honestly wonder how much Candy Crush Gus is playing during practice and not watching players.

Jay Jacobs praying for his job probably went something like this

It just shows his hypocrisy. It was no secret Golloway was a total dickhead when he hired him. Do you think JJ wasn't aware of his of the cover up of Myers fricking his players and the cover-up that followed?

Don't know, but who cares if someone is a dickhead lol why would you want his religion to interfere with hiring a good coach

I don't want his religion to interfere with hiring a good coach. But don't put on this Jimmy Swaggart bullshite after what he's allowed to happen under his watch the past few years.
Hell we were told part of the reason Tony Franklin was fired was because of his language and the fact that he didn't buy into that fake BS.
