Some interesting info:

- Over 1.2 million pounds of steel was used.
- Over 40,000 bolts hold the structural steel together @ $3.50 a piece.
- There is no structural connection from the jumbotron to the stadium.
- The foundation is 35' deep to the bedrock + 10' rock socket.
- The maintenance cycle for the structural steel is 10 years.

Yeah, they are pricey, but they are made to break off once the correct torque is applied. That's why there are rust spots on the ends of the bolts.

Aren't these also easier to tighten because you don't have to access both sides of the bolt?

Correct.. Evidently the steel crews worked in two separate shifts. They would set the steel during the day using only a few bolts, then another crew would come in at night and do nothing but install the remaining bolts.

Yes. I already have a job waiting for me, and it's in a specialized residential building market.

I was about to ask the same thing. We toured the new 100 yard practice facility while I was there.

You want 1.2 million pounds of steel and 13 million dollars come crashing down because you cheaped out on bolts?

Labor > materials. Sounds like these bolts reduced labor considerably.

The pictures are hosted on tinypic. It could be the your office/school has blocked tinypic. I know at my work, imgur is blocked so there are lots of pics that do not work for me.

Try going to this link: https://i62.tinypic.com/kd99pd.jpg

No, not this semester. Still a few away. I came to AU as an accounting major, knew nothing about this program, and quickly changed.

Accounting, what in the hell was I thinking?!

Okay, that's what I figured. The link was blank so I assume my work is blocking it. Jerks
