Got to visit Abu Dhabi on my 2nd deployment. hes fortunate to be there in april instead of july. Worlds largest mall is a better site IMO, see lots of $300K cars parked illegally outside the starbucks, eat at a texas roadhouse just because, MURICA. then go for dessert in the cheesecake factory thats connected to the indoor ski resort, down the hall from the indoor aquarium. They put on some killer entertainment shows in the city as well. not the most fun place Ive been but def an experience.

I remember seeing a documentary on them building the place and it was insane how they did it. Burj Kalifa or something is the name of the building. They had a concrete pump pipe built into the center of the structure that they could hook up to on any given floor to pour the floors.

The concrete was a specially designed mix that is something like 10000 psi and can resist cracking. The top of the building moves something like 25 or 30 feet either way on any given day.

I was wrong, just looked it up and it was only 5 feet of sway at the top. still could make you sick as hell.

ETA: also. 60000 tons of rebar in it, 431000 yards of concrete and 22 million man hours.

Dubai has some amazing architectural and engineering structures. I want to visit at some point, it's an interesting anomaly as far as the Middle East goes. It is an intriguing case study, especially considering their Muslim culture. In my building science classes they are referenced more than any other country for sure.

If you're interested in these types of things, watch how Burj-Al-Arab was built. It's amazing the intricacies and cutting edge technology that was involved in building it.

Took our boys to downtown Atlanta a few months back for my 14 year olds birthday. We took them to the aquarium and a few things downtown then stayed in the Westin in downtown. 65th floor. They loved it. That building is 700 feet tall and was unreal. Pav's building is 2700 feet tall.

Hi guys no I didn't take any stairs. World's fastest elevator though. 9 meters a second and it still took 1 minute and 40 secs to get to the top

And lots of hot women but they are all Russian hookers. The locals all are wearing black bed sheets
