I just watched the Ole Miss game as I could only Gamecast it last week. Five observations we have all discussed at length:

1. We need a two-gap DT. Won't be fixed this year (Jauntavius Johnson ready to go or still raw?) but we got gouged over and over again for 5-7 yards up the middle. Calling Geneschin here.

2. JJ just derps the shite out of everything he's asked to do, the last play of the game just cherry on top, needs to not be on the field next year.

3. Why did J Robinson come out in the redzone? Puzzled me watching the game.

4. Kyle Davis and Eli Stove, you will be used next year if you sign.

5. We don't have any 5-15 yard passes. Maybe Landon Rice can change Gus' mind about using his versatility in the middle when it's 3rd and 5+.

Do we fix any of these things this game @ A&M?

I don't know. In general we need to fix the red zone issues though. I couldn't care less who got the ball as long as the player scores.

True, and no, we won't fix it this year. There's a serious issue with our defense's ability to be physical up front. This was improved against Ole Miss, mostly because Lawson seemed to shut down half the field. However, even with Adams's ability, we're still not able to "plug" the middle to free up our linebackers to make plays.

I would have hoped that this was fixed weeks ago. JJ has shown time and time again that he's not capable of handling an SEC football field in any capacity. Yet Gus still plays him. He doesn't need to be on the field this week. Hell, I'd say he should be on scout team or spending his time bulking up to play defensive end.

Again, this will not be fixed in time for tonight. This is a typical issue that has plagued Malzahn since last season. He "derps the shite" in the red zone.

Does this connect to your overall question? But remember that we've plugged in some highly recruited and highly ranked guys this year. For one, it's tough for 18/19 year olds to come in and produce at this level. Even Cowart, the top recruit of 2015, has struggled to make plays. Lawson was a beast in 2013, but he was helped by having a 1st round draft pick on the opposite side of him, and his role was well-defined when he would come in.

In other words, it won't matter if Davis and Stove and whoever else sign if we don't start showing that we can develop players.

Gus has never really been about the 5-15 yard pass. The occasional slant has been used the past few seasons, especially when Duke was trying. In 2010, we had a good comeback route with Adams.

But Gus likes to pound the ball, throw screens, and throw the long ball.

I don't think so. I think we can run on A&M and get into the red zone, just like we did against Miss State and Ole Miss. The question is, "Will Gus get his head of out his arse with play calling?" If yes, then we can score some points. I don't think our defense will stop A&M's offense, so it's going to be important to score lots of points in this one.

With my WR point, just expressing frustration over player development and drops when balls are on the money. I will say they developed Louis a lot the last two years and it seems recruiting-wise, it is tough to scout true talent and how it will transition to college, especially when you look at the top-20 WR in Division 1 statistically; mostly no namers in recruiting.

Good discussion though and hope I can wake up early enough for the game

1. No
2. No. White was still limited in practice this week some so my bet is JJ plays some
3. No. Gus is loyal to using RBs that don't fumble in practice or games nor give him attitude issues. Barber was hurt last week & should not have played but Gus being Gus put him back in instead of the hot hand
4. No. lol
5. No. Getting Landon will not change what Gus does in that aspect. He has never used true short hot routes nor the short-medium part of the middle of the field. It's just not who he is & it's frustrating

Unfortunately, no. It seems to me that Gus doesn't seem to think they need fixing. And that's really the key, isn't it?

Gus has just been his own worst enemy this entire season and it's been completely baffling to me. all the things he has been doing to kill our momentum are very uncharacteristic for CGM. between all the substitutions, being so predictable, subbing in a lackadaisical QB... everything he has consistently done that's killed our momentum on offense you just didnt see Gus do before 2013. continuing to put JJ on the field is the worst coaching decision I have ever seen in my life. it's bad enough Sean White is normally starting a drive with 2nd and 11 because of our obligatory dive play. most of this shite is easily fixed and that's what is making this year so damn frustrating.

Why is it baffling? Pretty obvious that panic over the JJ situation has led to a lot of self-doubt.

Which is why most of us want new blood on the staff to add in fresh ideas.

Unfortunately new blood won't help at this point. Gus doesn't seem receptive to new ideas or critical thinking.

Landon Rice could be a boss in a passing attack somewhere. Wouldn't come to Auburn if I were any kind of mobile TE. Rice said Auburn told him they'd use him at WR lol. Sorry, no Eifert here. You would figure in a HUNH with young or struggling QBs, a 5-10 hard checkdown TE would be LETHAL.

I don't know why but my jimmies are rustled in constant reverberation over the lack of use of TE especially after the Bengals staff called us out saying we didn't use Uzomah effectively at all. I mean with all our drops, we'd prob have another Tommy Trott but
