Bama winning sucks. Just another day hearing how great the Sith Lord is the greatest of all time and how we have to deal with this year in and year out. That being said, here is what I want...
I want a team to play with urgency in 2016. I want a coach that absolutely holds the team accountable and relates to the fan base with 0 coach speak. I don't care necessarily about win/lose but I, for the love of God, want a team that is fundamental.
I'm tired of hearing of the "process" but it obviously works. And I think AU should implement a "process" to identify our offensive identity early on and stick to it. Further, if I hear we are "physical" and "fast" at our practices again, I will realize that it is a "was and repeat" scenario for 2016.
Moreover, we need a dual threat QB for Gus' offense to work. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, give me the crap about Chris Todd set records in Gus' offense. That was Gus' first year in the SEC with SEC talent. The league has caught up, seen it, and done it. Get the DT QB in place and realize that the zone read is not a read at all if you have an immobile QB or one that is a pansy and afraid to get hit. If we can't get the QB in place then let's run this offensive scheme again this year: 1) fake misdirection hand up the middle 1-2 yard gain; 2) hand off up the middle for no gain or 1-2 yard gain (or if feeling frisky) bubble screen; 3) out route or bubble screen for no gain; 4) punt. After punt, watch the opposing team march down for score.
Signed,

I wouldn't say the offense sucked, but outside of Ben Tate, it was a very inconsistent offense. Seem familiar? The biggest difference in my opinion was the home run threats of Darvin Adams, Terrell Zachary (to a lesser extent), and Onterio Mccalleb. Let's not kid ourselves, that team achieved about as much as this team did against a much weaker schedule. They beat a really bad Mississippi State team, a bad Tennessee, a weakened West Virginia team, and an Ole Miss team coached by Houston Nutt. The 2009 team wasn't terrible, but it got some benefits that this team didn't.
That all being said, I don't remember feeling as frustrated with the play calling in 2009. I attribute that to seeing what Gus can do with the offense rolling like it was in 2010 and 2013.

Clemson has been killing us in recruiting, seems like more than any other team. It is not like tgem winning would have been better.

I remember being pleased with the offense at the beginning of the '09 season. Maybe it was because our '08 offense was putrid. However, later in the season, I remember becoming frustrated with the playcalling or the fact our offense stalled against the better SEC teams.
On another note...we've seen Gus coach the Auburn offense now for a total of 6 seasons. As fans, I wish we could say we are pleased with more than 2 of those seasons.

I would say he's done a good job with the offense 4 of the six years.
2009 was good considering it was first year implementing a new system with a very limited QB and roster overall.
2010- Amazing
2011- Terrible but didn't have much to work with as the 2008 recruiting class were the seniors then.
2013- One of the best coaching jobs of all time
2014- Offense was not the issue whatsoever
2015- Terrible, no qb

Even if Bama didn't have this run with Saban, they'd still harp on the other history of their program. With that said, Saban is probably the greatest coach ever considering what he's done in a time of scholorship restrictions. We'd be just as annoying if our program were enjoying the same amount of success. It is what it is, nothing to be upset over.
You are correct though, AU does need an effective dual threat QB to make the offense click. I was stubborn this past season, probably giving Gus too much credit for his ability to "tweak" his offense. With the potential WR recruiting class, White could be effective though, so we'll see how that plays out. If we remember, the drops by our WRs lost at least 3 games for AU this past season. Either way, I hope we have options on which direction the offense goes next year.

Redzone scoring issues started in the 2nd half of the season. May have had to do with Duke being out.

Let's be honest Bama arrogance will not change much this year.
The rabid ones were already at 99.9% on the confidence meter they could win the Super bowl, and that will not change.
Our standard shouldn't really be Alabama. It should be to be competitive for SEC championships, everything else is honestly out of our control.
Case in point, if it had been us that lost to LSU with the same record as Alabama, there is no way we would have gotten a mulligan.
It is what it is.
If we can build this year on offense and just keep incrementally improving on defense, we should be competitive in all our games.
As far as Clemson, I may sound like a broken record here. Yes they are a good team, but they are night and day different at home v away. I am sure they will be fired up for the first game, but so will we be.
Fix the offense and we are in good shape.

If you wanna compare the two schools, I have a few points to make. First when it came to hiring their head coach, Mal went after one of the best in the game, regardless to whether he had ties to Bama or not. He was either gonna make Saban so no, or he was gonna have his man. On the other hand, we are stuck in this mode of hiring AU guys or guys with connection to the school. It's a very short sighted approach in my mind.
When it came to building a team and a program, Saban built it around great defenses and the offense followed suit. We have have taken the opposite approach. We've had more than our fair share of highly rated offensive players, but lots of those guys never panned out, including some highly rated qb's (exception to Cam and Nick). What it has left us with is an offense that is wildly inconsistent depending on who the qb is. When it's good it's good and when it's bad it's really bad. Couple an inconsistent offense with a defense that has been severely overlooked since the beginning of the Chizik era and you see the results for yourself.
A balance has to be struck between the two. I would like to see a focus on defensive recruiting and making it a respectable unit again. Maybe that means passing on an offensive player or two. Maybe we don't need to rotate 4 or 5 guys at rb each game or play 10 different recievers.

Bama game is the first time I really remember it being an issue and a lot of that has to do with the fact their defense is awesome down there. I guess you could say A&M but those two plays were pure flukes more than any sort of play calling or skill/talent deficiency.
UGA game we didn't even get to the redzone to find out.

Why I pulled for Bama and not even ashamed to admit it.
Benefits to Bama winning yet another title were negligible.
Don't need another recent national title winner in the neighborhood.

You should be.
What kind of Auburn fan could possibly pull for alabama to win a national championship? Make me sick.

I hated there was no way for both teams to lose.

No need to be frustrated, we are not Bama, however if you want to be part of that fan base, go to walmart and buy the Tshirt, you are then an official member...
Now ask yourself why they have been so successful and other schools (Take Auburn out of the equation) have not. What do they offer that UGA, UT, Florida do not?
1) Recruiting Advantages
2) Crazy boosters willing to do whatever it takes.
3) An administration that hired a great coach and gave him 100% control
Now what other school in the SEC has come close to Bama's success. Florida when they had all 3 with Urban. Which schools comes closest to that now?

Yeah, after Rich Rod shite on them.
It's my opinion, based on the way it all transpired, that Jimmy Sexton basically bypassed Moore and went straight to the big money UA alums and told them Saban would come if the price was right. They instructed Moore to back away from RichRod in the middle of negotiations, giving him cover to go back to WVU and say "they offered me the job but I turned them down to stay in Morgantown".
Got to hand it to them, it's turned out far better than even their massive egos would have imagined 8 years ago. Damnit.
Oh, and for the record, Mal (RIP) was the UA equivalent to Jay Jacobs. He got the gig because they knew he'd be loyal and do what he was told, but he was way over his head.
