New Chief Operating Officer

I read in the Minneapolis paper today that Auburn hired David Benedict to be its chief operating officer. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Auburn athletic department.
He was the deputy athletic director at the University of Minnesota. Is this a new position at Auburn or did someone leave?

Is it Tim Jackson's old job? I know it was open.

Don't think so. I believe TJ was in charge of Football Operations.
