I'm taking my wife and kids (4 and 7) to the opener. I haven't been to a home game since the late '80s. I want to make it as low stress as possible so we probably won't tailgate, just drive in from my dad's in Alex City.

What is the best strategy?
Should we park and shuttle in? If so, where coming in from 280 and College?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Email me and you can park at my place for free. Within walking distance.

Since it is a night game, get to town early. Traffic and parking won't be as much of an issue. There is some free street parking if you get there early enough.

If you don't park at his place, there is parking at the church by hamiltons and the bank across the street It's like 10-20 but its tax deductible.

Walk through down town and back through toomers after the game.

Auburn Methodist Church (AUMC). It's a good, safe place to park if you can get a spot, but it fills up pretty quick.

I parked at the intramural fields but its a pretty decent 15-20 minute walk. Probably wouldn't be that bad at night, though, and free.

Cool. Appreciate the good info. Hope I can get in at Marine's or the Church. Not sure what time will get to town, but we'll probably hit Alex City Friday night and come in midday or afternoon.

Can you drink in the church parking lot or do you risk hellfire.

the church does, the bank across the street, we have never had a problem. not sure on the drinking, I dont think its an issue. I dont think they want any crazy tailgaiters, but people do chill by the back of the cars and drink a few beers.

It's our non tailgate parking place of choice. I find it easy to get out of town as well

Also, if you come up on fraternity row or whatever from the back way, from wire road, you can almost always find parking in the grass somewhere on the street. Not a bad walk. 10-15 minutes

We park in the Auburn Bank lot at Magnolia/Gay. Since we have season tix we get a full season reserved sport - goes to NAMI of East Alabama - and they hold a spot until 2 hours before kickoff. With the bank expansion they now have some really nice parking that reaches down to Burton. A few grassy areas and trees so you can get some shade.

Easy walk to the corner and you are in downtown. Walk a block or so up Gay and you are at TigerRags, and walking to campus you can go right through Toomers.
